Whether you opt for a slim fit to accentuate some

killer curves or prefer the boyfriend style trend,

a blazer is a must have for your wardrobe. Blazers

have the ability to create a feeling of power and

sophistication. When paired with a tight pencil

skirt, a frilled blouse and those expensive pumps I

mentioned earliementioned earlier, a gorgeous black blazer compl-

    SAMANTHA

    about it!

M Tell me about the SAMANTHA WILLS brand and ideals.

S The SAMANTHA WILLS brand is all about the SW customer. Our central focus is around creating pieces that have a wearable luxurpieces that have a wearable luxury. The great thing about jewelry is that the overall look comes from how the wearer styles it. I believe the SW woman is extremely intell-igent, modern and savvy. We treat you like a fashion stylist - sugg-esting ways to wear the pesting ways to wear the product. Its not uncommon to receive images of the same ring, worn by three totally different women - it is this versatility thats been a real success factor in the brands jour-ney. The SW customer wants to be part of the conversation; not spoken part of the conversation; not spoken to. This is evident by our deep engagement online allowing us to listen, converse and respond to our consumer.

to have my own business because I have a strong stubborn streak of doing things a certain way!

M Had you always held a keen interest for jewelry design?

S I became interested in jewelry design as young girl and made des-design as young girl and made des-igns for my mums local clothing store. I credit the absolute basics of jewelry making to classes my mum enrolled me in as a primary school student and I attended hol-iday beading classes at the local craft shop. Latecraft shop. Later, I started making jewelry for a friend in school and when girls in other grades heard about it I started charging them! I was always drawn to the creative, to telling a story through an expre-ssive form and jewelry just happ-ened to be the medium.ened to be the medium. MM You turned down a career in modeling to start your own access-ories business -- what made you decide to take this step?

S While modeling gave me a great insight into the world of design and fashion, I ultimately wanted to have chave creative control, and be the one behind rather than in front of the camera. Modeling has a very small shelf life and I never had the passion for it. I think I was destined

S A day in the life of Samantha Wills is definitely busy, but never boring! If I am in NYC, I try to get out and about in the morning, travelling everywhere from Soho to lower Manhattan and back. I try to walk a dito walk a different street every day; you just never know what you will come across! I usually block out weeks at a time to design as I find it easier to immerse myself in design. Afternoons are spent on marketing and communications concepts for upcoming pconcepts for upcoming projects, and then on to Skype and email with my Australian team. Amongst that could be PR interviews, meet-ings, sourcing, styling, it really is a mixed bag! Eating and laughing late at night with friends is the per-fect end to a crazy dafect end to a crazy day.

M How do you spend your down time?

S I love to read and to learn new things. I find that reading is the only thing that stops my brain from thinking about work! I love to catch up with friends and spend catch up with friends and spend quality time with them. While most of my travel is for work, I do love to just escape with no work agenda - this is rare but very divine!

M What is your most cherished wardrobe staple?

S S I cant go past a fresh, crisp white tee and a great pair of dark jeans. With this outfit I can access-orize in almost any way. I always feel confident and ready to walk out the door in style. I use my acc-essories to transition my wardrobe ffrom day to night. When I do dress up you can always spot me in a bronze or champagne colored seq-uin! I think I was born under a disco ball, as I just love under-stated sparkle! And definitely a cocktail ring, day or night.

MM What is your favorite season and why?

I could have anticipated the diffic-ulties of starting out on your own at such a young age. However, if it wasnt for my diligence and naiv-ety I would never have taken the leap and been where we are today. The transition fThe transition from a label to a brand has been a long but rewar-ding process. Our international expansion and our celebrity follo-wing are a tribute to this success.

M What are some of your favo-rite pieces from your collections?

SS My ultimate favourite is my Safari Nights ring from our Port-

raits of Dusk collection -- I live in that ring! From our upcoming Sunset Noir collection, I adore the Buddahkan cuff in burnished gold, the Fire to the Rain necklace and Hutton ring. These thHutton ring. These three are great statement pieces that take me from day to night and make a perfect transition from office to weekend. Although, it is hard for me to choose (its like asking someone to choose their favorite child!) I do find myself wearing the same find myself wearing the same pieces a lot.

M What does a day in the life of Samantha Wills involve?

M What inspires you in life?S Inspiration is everywhere. Im inspired by learning, by experienc-ing, by conversations. Im inspired by my travels; whether it is the afternoon sun set against the New YYork skyline, the Mexican dusk with its soft peachy blush shades or rich Moroccan architecture -- I am captured by lifes beauties in general! I also take inspiration from business people that are successful in both their field, but also the peo-ple game: the way they develop, ple game: the way they develop, sustain and enrich their relationship to achieve business success and creativity.

M How does it feel to have gained such a star status in your own right as a designer?

SS Of course, peer recognition is very satisfying. While the brand is my name, I by default collect all the praise, but the truth is the brand has eclipsed me. It is because of an AMAZING amount of people that what we do happens and continues to expand; without them, the Sam-to expand; without them, the Sam-antha Wills brand would be non-existent. The biggest buzz comes from when a client contacts us and says that she receives so many compliments and the empowerment she feels when she wears her SW piece. This eclipses any other kind piece. This eclipses any other kind of star status.

M How do you feel when you see celebrities wearing your jewelry?

S Its a compliment! Its great for the brands exposure and is a kind of external justification that you are doing the right thing. Especialldoing the right thing. Especially, when its a celebrity like Drew Barrymore or Olivia Palermo -- whose style I admire.

M What has been your biggest challenge and success?

S Taking the Samantha Wills from a label to a brand, thea label to a brand, there is no way

Shoes glorious shoes! Where would a woman be without them? They are the cherries on top of every fashionista's cake. So what's hot in shoes this winter? In terms of color scheme, the ones to look out for are: black, stone, beige, burgundy, dark blue, deep violet, chocolate, red, khaki and metallic. The brighter hues of spring and summer are scarce as winters moody and rich tones settle in. Material wise, we are talking about leather, patent, reptile skins, suede and satin, lace and even some occasional fur. On a side note, you may be pleased to know both round and pointy toes are popular this season, so no matter what your preference you will still remain on trend. Platforms pointy toes are popular this season, so no matter what your preference you will still remain on trend. Platforms and wedges from spring have made their way over into winter, with designs a touch more on the modest and elegant end as opposed to the vibrant and sometimes unusual styles of spring 2011. Lacing is more aggressive and sexified in winter and you can expect to see buckles from past seasons making a comeback. In terms of heel styles, chunky and spike are the pick of the bunch. Chunky heels bring us the comfort and confidence, with designs rang-ing from round toe pumps to rocker chick ankle booties, while the killer stiletto heel gives women that feeling of glamour and sexiness in styles from satin to patent and leather and suede.glamour and sexiness in styles from satin to patent and leather and suede.

Every womans staple in her fashion diet is a bag! Its the daily tote-able secret treasure chest that only she has the key to open. From shoulder bags to large totes, clutches and mini purses, a woman can never have too many bags!Nude, floral, combination colors, chain handles and landmark prints were hot on the Moschino Fall/Winter 2011 runway this year. This gives us a general insight into what you can expect to be wearing on your arms this season. We have seen nude in abundance through clothing, shoes and jewelry - bags are no exception. The nude color can range from sandy beige, dusty pinks to peaches and cream. This shade is chic, simple and very versatile. Floral prints will add a touch of femininity to any outfit and will brighten up a cold winters day, while the color blocking prints will add a touch of femininity to any outfit and will brighten up a cold winters day, while the color blocking trend of spring still reigns and will transfer over into winter. Chanel inspired chain handbags add le French sophis-tication and landmark printed totes such as the Eiffel Tower are the perfect statement to a classy and demure ensemble.

A perfect piece of jewelry can instantly transform an outfit from day to night. Sometimes all you need is a statement necklace, a cocktail ring or a set of chunky bangles to finish off a look. Jewelry adds style, glamour and sophist-ication and plays a key role in getting dressed up. After all, what woman doesnt love a little bit (or a lot) of bling? In Time: Futuristic trends are sweeping the runways and the theatres. In Time takes place in the future, where every human being doesnt age past 25, but everyone is allotted a certain amount of time to live, seemingly dependent on status. This shiny, action and fashion-packed movie stars some of the most stylish actors in Hollywood, including Justin actors in Hollywood, including Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde. The films trailer catches glimpes of sparkly costumes but Amanda Sey-frieds simple, fitted black dress is a definite must-have.

The Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen isnt necessarily a fashion icon, especially because she doesnt care. But The Girl Who Was On Fire sure gave some inspiring and attainable, modern looks. Her signature hunting outfit consists of just a jacket, simple top and baggy pants, reminiscent of the androgynous look. Many of Ms. EveMs. Everdeens outlandish costumes wont be seen until The Hunger Games hits theaters, but theres a reason shes called The Girl Who Was On Fire -- but dont try that concept too literally at home.

M Exactly how long have you been blogging?

K CakedCulture turns 1 year old on December 4th! I cant believe its been a year already. In some ways it seems like its been longer and it seems like its been longer and others like it hasnt been long at all. I was blogging on Tumblr for a cou-ple months before that though.

M What are some of the biggestchallenges of having your own fas-hion website? hion website?

K Consistency has been my big-gest challenge! Sometimes it gets hard to blog every day or stay on schedule. Also, as a new blogger its easy to compare yourself with bloggers who have been in the bloggers who have been in the game longer. My challenge is stay-ing true to me. Its so easy to want to compare myself to the fashion bloggers that do it full time and have someone there to take all of their photos. Working a full time job and blogging is a challenge in job and blogging is a challenge in itself and Im trying to make it the best way I can.

M What are some of the perks?

K The number one perk is defin-itely the friends that blogging has

had very humble beginnings as The Get Right on Tumblr. Weve come a mighty long way. To me, CakedCulture is all about having passion in your dreams. When youre caking someone (ex: Girl you stay caking or You know you stay caking or You know Jenny and James stay caking) youare spending time putting in the work, effort, and passion into that relationship. In my eyes, you have to cake your dreams as well.

MM What inspired you to start your own fashion blog?

K At first I had no idea I would become a fashion blogger. It just started as a place I would post and talk about things I saw in the fash-ion world and really liked. Then I ion world and really liked. Then I started to put outfits together from these things. I would look at some shoes and think, I just saw a purse on this site that would look great with those! When people turned out to be interested in that, it fit nat-urally to start taking pictures every urally to start taking pictures every once in a while of what I was actua-lly wearing. It was a very natural progression. Its grown and people really respect my opinion as a fashion blogger. It really blows my mind sometimes. In a great way of course!course!

I love seeing an idea go from an idea, to a sketch, to so much more.so much more.

M Who do you think is the most stylish celebrity in Hollywood right now? Why?

K I dont stay up on celebrities as much as I used to, but off the top of much as I used to, but off the top of my head Tracee Ellis Ross has been on my radar after I saw her in the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers Ive been lusting. And Emma Stone never upsets at an award show. Shes one of my girl crushes!

K Beyond seeing CakedCulture grow, my biggest dream is to own an art gallery. I love art and can pic-ture it perfectly. For those familiar with the Atlanta area I want it to be in Little 5 Points. Cant you picture it?! Cross your fingers for me! One it?! Cross your fingers for me! One day.

M How would you describe your personal style and why?

K My personal style is definitely eclectic. I think it reflects in my fas-eclectic. I think it reflects in my fas-hion choices as well as in my home dcor. I love mixing vintage pieces with things that are more modern and classic. Once you allow your-self to be free in your fashion choi-ces, getting dressed is so much more fun!more fun!

allowed me to meet. Ive met some truly amazing ladies and gents that are behind CakedCulture 110%. Its so humbling and keeps me moving forward.

M M What are some other cool things you do, besides running such an awesome site!

K Im a foodie! If Im not working, or blogging, Im eating something. I love all kinds of food. Im also a compulsive photo taker. One of my compulsive photo taker. One of my cameras is never more than an arms length away. I also collect vintage and hope to open an online store soon! Yay!

    I love mixing vintage pieces

    with things that are

    more modern and classic.

M If you could change 3 things about the fashion industry, what would they be and why?

K Actually, right now, there isnt too much I would change. When it comes to fashion, I care most about comes to fashion, I care most about what I can afford. So as much as I love Gucci, Burberry, and all those big names, I cant afford it for it to matter too much. What I love is that with social media and blogs small clothing designers are getting a chance to shine. Its so amazing bec-chance to shine. Its so amazing bec-ause I have friends whose designs get retweeted on Twitter and supp-orted by celebs. Their success is dir-

ectly reflective of their hard work and hustle and it inspires me so much.

M Give us some fun facts about yourself!

K Favorite food is fried rice. Fav-orite movie is The Temptations. Im a sucker for Leon, especially as David Ruffin. When Im bored, I record myself lip singing to songs. RECIPES FOR WINTER

  • MOD Winter 2012

    Your finished terrarium should

    look similar to this.

Mist or drizzle with water and

seal with lid. Do not place in

    direct sunlight. Instead, keep it

    in moderately low light.

    Add any decorations you might

    like: for instance, the skunk

    figurines shown here.

Place your moss on top of the soil

and lightly tap, with your fingers,

    into place.

Next add potting soil on top of

    the sand. Do not mix.

Place a small layer of sand or

gravel at the base of your jar.

    Step 1. Step 2. Step 3.

    Step 4. Step 5. Result:

    Jar with lid

    Sand or small gravel

    Potting Soil

    Irish Moss (This can

    be gathered from

    the woods, purchased

    online, or from your

    local florist)

    Small figurine

    (optional)

    What Youll Need:

Theres so much to love about terrariums! They

add a touch of green to any apartment and look

oh so chic, yet they require very little effort and

expense. You don't even need a green thumb to

maintain them! Once planted, simply mist with

water, cover and watch your green house environ-

ment come to life. Through the process of conden-ment come to life. Through the process of conden-

sation, your terrarium will create its very own

    rainforest!
