Dear Sisters and Brothers,
I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our God is a God of blessings. God blesses us in so many ways. Psalm
67 speaks of God’s blessings.
Worship in its deepest sense is recognition of and thanksgiving for the
grace of God. It is response to the warmth and authenticity of God’s love which
surrounds, fills and draws us to God. Worship is the essence and power of God’s
blessings.
One of the significant attributes of the psalms is their expression of the
inner life. When I am in anguish, I can read a psalm and it helps me articulate
my deepest feelings.
The psalmist speaks of the universality of God’s love. The world God
created is also the world God seeks to save. The world that has lost touch with
the source of its’ life is the world God seeks to heal and make whole.
Blessings go beyond what we receive as a result of God’s goodness.
God’s blessings are also an invitation to respond to God’s purposes for healings,
health and wholeness. God’s blessings are an invitation to be partners with God
as instruments of grace.
In closing, let me stress what a blessing you have been to Susie and
myself.
Grace and peace, Rick District Website-

Radical Discipleship Academy of Appalachia
The Radical Discipleship Academy of Appalachia is a twelve-month spiritual formation experience for youth.
After the initial summer week, participants are a part of a covenant group that meets monthly over the next 11
months to continue learning and growing together, and to help participants begin leading in new ways in their
church and community. The program is currently accepting applications for the 2016-2017 program year.
Early admission deadline is May 6, with a reduced cost of $350.00. Our final deadline for applications is June
24, with a $400.00 tuition. The program launches with a week at Spring Heights, July 24-29, 2016. All rising
9th-11th graders are eligible to apply.

Heart and Hand House, Inc.: Please see the attached Heart and Hand House Newsletter. It’s loaded with lots of
great information. Thank you, Brenda!
Wesley Foundation at FSU/PC&TC: It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. The Wesley
Foundation at Fairmont State and Pierpont Community & Technical College has been busy. Thanks to many of our
district churches, our food pantry has remained full, and this has allowed us to help many students in need. We have
students for whom this is an extra meal because of the food that is donated. Know that your donations are needed and
greatly appreciated. We continue to serve free lunch every Thursday and the 4th Tuesday and we’ve also added the
2nd Tuesday. I’ve been asked several times if we “need” free lunch. There are two types of real need we address.
The first is physical, for many of our students this is the hot meal they know that they will get during the week. I
know it’s hard to believe, but many college students don’t have the means to eat a healthy meal. So as Jesus says in
Matthew 25, when I was hungry you fed me. The second type is the spiritual need or connection. They feel
connected with each other and with me when they come to eat. They share with me their prayer concerns and joys, in
their own way they have built a community. The Wesley Foundation partnered with the Newman Center for an
Ecumenical Ash Wednesday service. I do primarily individual work with students answering questions of faith and
working through crises. We were able to help two Nepal students through a crisis so that they were able to stay in
school. As you can tell this year has been busy and productive. I covet your continued prayers and supports. Thank
you from me and the Board of Directors. Grace and Peace, - Maria Wiblin, Campus Pastor
Parish Coordinator News
Cheat Mountain Cooperative Parish: On May 5, the Cheat Mountain parish will be asked to participate in the National Day of Prayer at the court house in Kingwood. During Mother's Day, all our churches will be sharing in various special services and breakfasts. During the Pentecost service at Bruceton, they will be doing a service in at least 6 different languages. It should be a great morning of learning! New Bible studies are getting underway. An "I paint" class will be offered at Bruceton. On Memorial Day, each of the churches are having special services. The band will be playing at Fairview cemetery, the honor guard will do a special service at Sugar Valley cemetery, and the other churches will have special programs honoring our military as well as those who have gone before us. This is the tip of the iceberg. It is going to be a very busy month for all. - Vicki Sheppard, Parish Coordinator
Morgantown East Cooperative Parish: The Morgantown East Cooperative Parish continues to use our
strengths as individual churches to minister more effectively to our community together - we are better
together. Last month we completed the painting of the inside of Mt Union UMC as they welcome people
from their community. This month we will complete painting the outside of the church and celebrate with a
Parish Pentecost Celebration Sing at Mt Union UMC on May 15 at 6PM, featuring choirs and singers from
our churches. We will meet again on May 9, 9:45AM at Shoney’s in Sabraton to discern where God is
leading us next. - Brad Bennett, Parish Coordinator
Shinnston Cooperative Parish: As April showers bring May flowers. Several of the Shinnston Cooperative Parish Pastors will be participated in the National Day of Prayer service in Shinnston on May 5, 2016 at 6:30pm. We will be having our Miles for Mission run/walk/bike event on Saturday July 2, 2016. Registration begins at 8am with the race beginning at 9am. Modern Woodman of America will be partnering with us and matching each dollar up to $1,500. So even if you can’t walk please consider sending in a donation. All money raised goes to COME. Look for more exciting happenings in the Shinnston Cooperative Parish. Blessings to all of you!!! - Cindy Boggs, Parish Coordinator
