  • MORNING CONSULT

    This Morning Consult poll was sponsored by the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing and was

    conducted from July 9-11, 2014, among a national sample of 2,010 likely 2014 voters. The

    interviews were conducted online and the data were weighted to approximate a target sample of

    likely voters based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, educational attainment, region, annual household

    income, home ownership status and marital status. Results from the full survey have a margin of

    error of plus or minus two percentage points.

    Thinking more about prescription drug costs, there are certain types

    of prescription drugs prescribed for complex conditions known as

    specialty drugs that either very expensive and/or need to be given

    by a physician or other clinician and often given in the doctors office

    or other health care setting. One recent example of this is a drug

    that was developed to treat hepatitis C. Some early tests indicate

    that this drug when used in combination with other treatments could

    in many instances cure individuals with hepatitis C, but the

    company manufacturing this drug has priced the treatment at

    $84,000 for a 12 week course of treatment which is $1,000 per day.
