Writing
Launching the Writing workshop (creating a writing journal, generating
ideas, expanding on ideas, etc)This will be taught in homeroom, by
your child’s homeroom teacher.
As a homeroom class, students will move amongst all 3rd grade teachers (beginning with their own homeroom teacher and moving each quarter) to cover the following topics:
Poetry and friendly letters Narrative writing
Media and how-to writing
New experiences in 3rd GradeNightly and weekly homework will be given.
Nightly – math and reading and possibly other subjects from time to time.
Weekly – spelling to be turned in on Friday to HOMEROOM teacher.
Various long-term projects will be assigned through out the year as well.
Agendas: students will be expected to keep up with recording assignments on a NIGHTLY basis.
Switching classes 2 times a day (math/reading) for the first half of the year. Second semester they will switch 3 times a day – math/reading/writing.
Cursive – patience – no one is perfectEOGs – we do NOT talk about them until 4th
quarter. We WILL be preparing all year long though.
Study Hall once a week for students who miss 2 or more homework assignments in a week. Other students will participate in review activities/games at this time.
