Another visit from Mr Ogg.
Yesterday Mr Ogg made another brief visit to our great school to spend some time talking with our students
about art. Mr Ogg used his time to talk with Stage Four students about shading and creating depth in
pencil drawings, and demonstrated ways to look outside the box and become creative in their art making.
He attended a Stage Five Visual Design class, hanging out and discussing artists and appropriation with
the students when asked.
Year 4/5/6 have been completing a sculpture unit with Ms Ogg on Thuggai the Yellow Belly. After late
break students from this class watched Mr Ogg create a painting based on his interpretation of this
Dreaming story. Students were mesmerised as the painting came to life before their eyes, and asked
questions as the painting progressed. As usual our students were on their best behaviour and Mr Ogg once
again remarked about what a great school and what great students we have.

The Preschool children have been busy learning about spiders and how they make webs. We have been
practicing our writing skills by making sentences from the story book Aaaaarrrgghhh Spider!
We have also been exploring measurement by focusing on height and length. Yesterday we built a huge
green anaconda which was even longer than 11 Preschool children and measured 32 Preschool steps
long!
PRESCHOOL NEWS

This week is a busy week in Business Services as we begin to finalise Work placements for Week 9. Both
students are headed over the levee for their immersive workplace experience, with Dana attending a
business house in Goondiwindi and Jasmine, Moree. These immersive experiences are fundamental to
establishing relationships and skills which the student is able to use once they have graduated. For Dana,
it is nearly over. She can see the light at the end of the tunnel. With only her work placement to finish and
her final assessment to submit, she will have qualified for her Certificate II in Business, a nationally
recognised qualification.
HOSPITALITY, RETAIL AND AUTOMOTIVE
In Week 3 students attended local Business houses to begin the compulsory work placement aspect of
their prospective courses. Businesses which accepted students included:
Retail: SPAR Supermarket
Hospitality: Mungindi Servo, Shafays Bakery & Café and Mungindi Bakehouse
Automotive: Mungindi Mechanical Repairs
Students learnt valuable skills in their fields and enjoyed the experiences thoroughly. We would like to
thank the business houses for accepting the students and taking the time to train them in skills necessary
for their qualifications. As we near the end of the Preliminary and HSC Year, we prepare for the final work
placements in Hospitality and Automotive. Further businesses have accepted our students for placements
and we are grateful for their assistance in furthering the education of our students.
