Richard Stockley Music Poster Analysis #1 This poster is a promotion for Bon Iver’s 2009 concert at the Fox theatre in California. The image is of a heart but the heart is made out of a guitar this is to show that they are the heart of music and if you love music, you must see this concert. Bon Iver’s main instrument is an acoustic guitar which we can tell as it is the only instrument pictured which shows a cutural code as the image of an acoustic guitar tells the audience that he is an acoustic singer/songwriter It is very minimalistic as it only has the one image and it isn’t detailed at all, this could be from a possible art movement. There is only just a little bit of writing stating the band, supporting band, the date and location. The font used is simple and bold and by it being separated from the central image, when you look at the poster, it brings attention to the text but it still makes almost all the attention onto the central image. The colours used are beige and dark red, the red is used on the central image and font to bring focus towards them, the background is a bland beige colour to keep the focus the background itself This poster has a semantic code in it as it connotes that Bon Iver’s music is simple and comes from the heart, this is a clever way to show the audience his genre as well
