KATY PERRY - THINKING OF YOU This music video is called ‘Thinking of You’ which is song by an American singer called Katy Perry which came from her second album this was called ‘One of the Boys (2008). The song itself falls into the genre pop and it also involved features of acoustic instruments.When releasing the song there were two videos one being a promotional video which involves her being in a black and white apartment. The second version was extremely popular

➔ Within a number of music videos which are of the pop genre would be the performance element as they may be trying to prove or explain something.Also another element of pop videos would be if it was concept or narrative based.

➔ This video was a narrative based music video as Katy perry is playing a character and trying to sell of story and entice people to watch the video.

➔ Another factor of music videos would be common convention within this genre would be the fade in and out effects. Also quick cuts when editing which was shown in the black and white option of the music video. Within the music video there are multiple jump cuts, screen fades and some match cuts.

DRAKE The artist Drake is an R&B, Hip-Pop and Rap artist who is not just a singer but the rapper as well. He released his first single in 2006 and he has been so successful to work with Kanye West, Jay - Z, Rihanna and many more. Another benefit of the artist would be that he has been able to write for other artists in the music industry for Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx and many more. In a number of his videos he likes the typical rapper setting which is rich and glamorous setting. The location is typically in large mansions with swimming pools ideal for parties. In a few of his music videos props such as gold thrones were present which indicates wealth. Another factor of drake would be his love life and sex appeal which shows in the videos with women wearing minimal clothing and flower petals on the beds and in certain rooms. In theses videos the location includes a beach where the sunset is appearing, back alley, a club and also a recording studio.

SCENES FROM DRAKE At the beginning of the music video it starts with a medium shot. To expose the artist it is a tilt from the jacket upwards which therefore shows there face when he begins to sing

An effect was put on the artist in the scene to indicate that he is on fire. The camera shot for a close of the artist's face whilst being connected to the fire

Another cut then shows a series of medium and long shot. He is following the artist of michael jackson because of his attire which he is wearing.There is also a number of effects which were added whilst the camera shot was zoom in and out.

The bedroom scene was also added to the music video and they were woven in throughout the video. They were mainly low and straight angles which shows the artist's power and authority.

KANYE WEST Kanye west first reached fame when he worked with a producer for Roc- A- Fella Records, after this he eventually achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z’ album. Due to his achievements he was able to work with artists like Alicia Keys, Ludacris and Janet Jackson. These are only a few of the many artists which he has worked with.

KANYE WEST FT RIHANNA At the beginning of the music video it provides the reader something to read. The fact that it is in black and white would therefore show that it is meant to represent the past.

Then the next scene is then a medium shot which shows the little girl running off which shows she is alone and could suggest vulnerability .

Then there is a close up show of the little girl who seems to appear to be alone again. There is a clear expression of her face which tells her the atmosphere.

The editing within this cut was very vibrant due to the change in colour which made it all confusing and exciting.This may reflect on the little girl showing the lost and confusion.
