Well a new year has finally arrived. May your New Years Resolution be forever in your favor! Wellif you actually took the time to make one. I didnt bother with concocting a lofty goal this year. Why? Because I want to do my best every day. Push my limits. Set new goals. Trump my old challenges with new ones. I think ultimately this is what we as people hun-ger for. A new us. Resolutions are innate in our nature. We crave increased performance, better results and ultimately a better us. If De-cember 31st of every year is your purposed date of change, thats completely okay, be-cause change is good. But Id like to chal-lenge you to be a new, improved, dynami-cally awe inspiring you every day! Face new challenges. Create new goals. Trump yourself time and time again. Because.CHANGE IS GOOD!

In this issue of Muve Mag chat it up with Katie Wicks, check out OKCs newest Desirable Des-tination; Pink Cadillac, poke at your holiday hangover, discuss why bow ties and suspend-ers are no longer Urkel attire, and connect with the guys behind Fashion Atlantis.

    As always,

    Read. Enjoy. Share.

    MUSIC

    ONTHE MUVE

  • We have heard you are a symphonic soundtrack lover.

YES! I listen to the Last of Mohegans

    soundtrack or Braveheart. I also

favor Yani and Enya. I almost cried

the other day because I missed Yanis

DJ, producer, promoter, cat lover and gaming enthusiast, Katie Wicks is con-stantly On The Muve. We dined in and chatted it up with Katie at La Brasa Peru-

vian Kitchen recently. On the Muve with Katie Wicks, after the jump.

concert. The show was scheduled on

a Wednesday, and of course Im busy

that night. I listen to Yani so much at

home, B sings it now, like all the time.

    Id imagine that writing symphonic

    music is super intense. Writing

    MUSIC

  • symphony music involves so many

    dynamics & focus. It definitely

requires more skill than just clicking

and dragging a mouse and turning

    knobs. Orchestras have nearly 20-50

instruments all working in accord to

create one unified sound. Theres a

    deep beauty in that.

    Is there beauty in EDM?

Yes and No. Its difficult to tell the

    difference between each artist any

more. Pointing out an artist based on a

    tracks production is extremely difficult.

I dont believe that originality is getting

    fair play nowadays.

I think you can tell when someone

just put it out, to get it out. Sacrificing

quality for quantity. When Daft Punk

scored the Tron movie, they managed

to keep their flare and sound intact

    while scoring a timeless soundtrack.

Music should move you in an interesting

way. Very few do this for me now. I

stumbled upon the Avicii Wake Me

Up track, its one of my favorite songs

now. Thats interesting because its Top

40, but its a moving song nonetheless.

Kids at the Bar did a remix of Aviciis

You and Me, I favor that one as well.

    Music should move you in

    an interesting way.

    MUSIC

  • Tell us about your show on The Spy.

I play a lot of old dance music,

    tech-house, trap, and big room.

    The show doesnt really have

a theme. I would describe my

    show as anything you can

    dance too. When most people

think of dance music they think

of in your face stuff. I like to play

a melting pot of tracks from

ragers to tunes you can clean

your house to. I find a lot of my

tracks on sound cloud. Its ripe

with gems. After every show I

    post my playlist online.

I like to keep the mix to where

    it progresses steadily. I usually

    start off with tech-house tracks

    then move into louder songs

at the end. Its three hours of

    commercial free music. Its like

    an unabridged story.

Have you always wanted to be a producer?

I never anticipated being in a

    DJ/producer duo but B. and I

    MUSIC

  • always wanted to work together beyond throwing

parties. Whenever I started dance rock was big,

well it wasnt the 90s like every one else, Im only

    24. You didnt have to worry about super mixing you

just kinda played tracks. If it was fun you could play

it. Playing Hall and Oats and then Justice would

get people dancing. Comparing the dance floors

of then to the dance floors of now, I dont think

you could really get away with playing that type

of music. The dance music fans now need have to

lights, loud music and an in your face experience

in order for them to enjoy it. Theres nothing wrong

with that. However, I like music thats sensual.

    MUSIC

  • What was the first Crystal Vision Track?

There was the GIF of Geordi LaForge as a star trek

character. Rhythm is a Dancer playing with it. So

we decided to remix Rhythm is a Dancer. That

was the first song we did as Crystal Vision.

    Whats Next for Crystal Vision?

Its funny because a lot of people know that Im

obviously pregnant. But that hasnt stop me or us

from doing anything. I still do Robotic Wednesdays,

  • MUSIC

  • I just dont drink. Which of course is not

that big of a problem to me. People

are like How do you do it? Im like I dont know, DONT DRINK. You can

have a good time without drinking.

During the first three months of my

pregnancy, after we played our set

Chad from Kids at the Bar would go on,

for some reason his set would totally

put me to sleep. It has to be something

with that bass, I would just pass out

on the couch. Who could really sleep

    through that? Me!

Chad was like Why do you keep

passing out during my sets. I told him,

I swear its not you, its just that the

    bass kinda lulls me, man.

My need for naps could be attributed

to my lack of caffeine. Whenever I first

found out about my pregnancy I cut

caffeine cold turkey. I thought I was

    dying. Once my hormones evened

out I was fine. At times it was hard to

be in public because people would

come up and talk to me and in my

head Id think, why are you talking to

me right now. It was definitely hard to

keep my composure and get attuned

    MUSIC

  • to the changes. But Ive managed.

Preganancy is definitely a very weird

thing. Its the weirdest thing Ive

    probably ever been through. Although

I dont feel like Ive changed that

much, well, besides my boobs being

huge. My belly is starting to grow and I

    vigorously rub oil everywhere because

    Im super conscious about stretching.

Being pregnant has inspired me in an

interesting way. It has made me want

to work harder and make sure that I

make a lasting imprint before I fall off

the face of the earth for a few months

for maternity leave. I think my biggest

fear is being irrelevant for just a little bit,

and then having to build myself back

up. I dont think its going to be that

way though, seeing that I made it this

    far.

Ive got the crib set up and tons of toys

ready for her. Shes due around April

10th. Its hard for me not to Marvel

Comic out her room. Im sticking with

    MUSIC

  • a lot of neutral colors for her room. Im

sure she is going to love pink because

    I hate it.

As far as Crystal Vision, we are still

doing stuff. We just released a remix a

few weeks ago. So its not the end of

the world. Im not sure if a lot people

will understand that though. Like DJ

Whiiite told me Never let any one tell

you that having a kid is the end of the

world, you can still do everything you

do now. You are just going to have to

    work harder.

You know all in all I dont see anything

that will change to drastically. Because

Im really a homebody. Im home more

often than not, writing music or just

hang in. In the beginning Im sure that

breast feeding will add more theatrics

to my day. Youd think Id want this

baby to be a DJ baby, but I wouldnt

mind it being totally opposite of me.

    Like, an astrophysicist, which would

be totally cool with me. Id rather her

go into science then go into the music

    industry. Because the music industry

is really hard. Its not something that

you can go to school for and then

    automatically make it big in.

One of the cool things about having a

kid is that when I give her advice thats

    MUSIC

  • something that she is going to remember for the rest of her life. So you really have to watch you say.

Theres stuff that your mom or dad has probably told

you and hold on to that forever. I dont want to mold

her into something that I want her to be. I want to

mold her into something that she wants to be. Leave

the advice and a gateway. Be super open minded,

I think that will be the best practice.

  • MUVE MAG

This past December, Bricktown received a new addition. Fresh and authentic, Pink Ca-dillac delivers a sports bar experience infused with the limitless energy of OKCs vibrant nightlife. Its the perfect addition to OKCs entertainment district landscape. Muve Mag caught up with Pink Cadillac owner, Jeff Rogers to chat about his new destination on

    Sheridan Ave.

    What is Pink Cadillac?

Pink Cadillac is a bar concept. We are open 7 days a week, Monday through Friday, 5 PM to 2 AM . Saturday and Sunday, from noon until 2 AM.

You wont find a DJ at this new Bricktown destination. The evenings soundtrack features an iTunes & Pan-dora Jukebox.

I believe that there are few places in Bricktown that offer a no cover, no dress code policy. Pink Cadillac will deliver a relaxed atmosphere that is suiting for diverse demographics. Ul-timately, Pink Caddy, will be the bar that young business professionals can land after work to have a beer, during a Thunder Game or before hitting the town.

  • MUVE MAG

What brought about the desire to open Pink Cadillac?

Ive been in the nightclub business for sometime now. Ive seen so many trends come and go, I felt there was a need for a concept such as this in Bricktown. I think a lot of people want to get into the nightclub business, es-pecially right now. I wanted to step away from the norm and really fo-cus on bringing a fresh and authentic concept to Bricktown. Something that would smoothly bridge the gap be-tween bars and nightclubs.

How does Pink Cadillac differ from your establishments?

My other establishments each have their respective dress code policies, cover charges and are centered around all those things that make nightclubs alluring. From the DJ to the lights and the loud music, I feel my oth-er spots in Bricktown deliver a party vibe. Pink Cadillac is a step in a differ-ent direction. Its for people that want to go out without enduring the dress codes, cover charges, loud music or rambunctious crowds. I think it speaks to many demographics and specific ones all in the same stones through. Its for the sports fan, for the pub fan, and for the 9 to 5er that wants a quick beer after work.

    Light Weights. More Reps.

Lifting weights shouldnt be an affair

akin to a tough man contest. Light

weights with more reps do the trick

just as effectively. It was once a

    misconception that heavy weight

lifting aided rapid muscle growth and

weight loss. In some cases, for advance
