1.0 President’sReportAlhamdulillah, theMalaysianSociety forEngineering&Technology(MySET)

is in its12thyearofoperationthisyearaftermanyyearsofhardworkwith

more than 10,000members and 3 full time executive staffmembers. The

MySETCouncilandothermembershaveworkedtirelesslyduringthelastyear

to build up the organization, from strengthening its management and

financial position to diversifying its activities through the various interest

groups,aswellastakingupsomeinitiativestofurtherdevelopMySETintoa

professionalbody.

MySET continues to work closely with other engineering bodies in the

country. MySET Council Members are active in the Boards of Board of

Engineers,Malaysia (BEM) andMalaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT).

MySETisassistingBEMinconductingitsprofessionalengineerexamination(PAE),aswellasassisting

MBOT in conducting its professional technologist and certified technician competency assessment

(PCA). MySET has been invited to sit in BEM National Monitoring Committee (NMC) as well as

EngineeringTechnologyAccreditationCouncil(ETAC).MySETisalsorepresentedinMBOTTechnology

and Technical Accreditation Council (TTAC). MySET has been appointed to lead a study on Future

DevelopmentofTechnologyinMalaysiabyMBOT.

MySETcontinuestoworkcloselywiththeFederationofEngineeringInstitutionsof IslamicCountries

(FEIIC) to organize activities at the international and national levels.MySET chairs the Engineering

Qualification, Accreditation and Professional System (EQAPS) project. The Medinah and Makkah

Accordshavebeensignedby6countriesandisintheprocessofactivepromotion.Thelatestaddition

istheFEIICProfessionalEngineerRegisterwithitsSecretariatatMySET.MySETsuccessfullyorganised

the bi-annual FICEER2017 inMadinahAlMunawarah, Kingdomof Saudi Arabia in December 2017

with the Saudi Council of Engineers, and will be organizing the nest FICEER2019 in Makkah Al

Mukaramahbetween2nd–5

thNovember2019.

MySET registered Malaysian Reconstruction Foundation (MyREF) has assisted the Rohingya by

providing humanitarian assistance in Bangladesh.MyREF continues to be the humanitarian armof

MySET.

Intheareaofknowledgedissemination,wecontinuetopublishourMySETe-magazineknownasET

MagazinetoshareknowledgeandexperiencewithMySETmembers.TheFEIIC-InternationalJournal

ofEngineering&Technology(FIJET)withFEIICcontinuestobepublishedregularly.MySETFacebook

5.1 OrdinaryMembers

a. ProfessionalEngineers-P.Eng.(onlyuponqualifiedasProfessionalEngineersbytheBoardofEngineersMalaysia)

(2) AnnualfeeshallbepayabletotheTreasurerinadvancewithinthefirstmonthofeachcalendaryear.(3) Anymemberwhoallowshisarrearstoexceedfortwomonths’fromtheendoffirstmonthofeachcalendaryearshallreceiveawrittennotification signed by or onbehalf of the Secretary General, and shall be denied the privileges ofmembership until hesettleshisaccount.(4) Anymemberwhoallowshisarrearstoexceedforthreemonths’fromtheendoffirstmonthofeachcalendaryearshallautomaticallyceasetobeamemberoftheSociety,andtheCouncilmaydirectlegalactionbetakenagainsthim,providedthattheyaresatisfiedthathehasreceivedduenoticeofhisdebts.(5) The Council shall have the power to fix a re-entrance fee for any person who hasallowedhismembershiptolapsethrougharrears.(6) SpecialsubscriptionsorleviesforparticularpurposesmayberaisedfrommembersbyresolutionofthegeneralmeetingoftheSociety.Ifanymember fails to pay suchsubscriptionwithin suchperiodasmaybe resolved, theamountdueshallbe treated in thesamewayasarrearsofmonthlysubscription.

Prof.Ir.MegatJohariMegatMohdNoorhopedthatallmemberswouldbeparticipatingintheactivities in MySET, especially the new council members that need to chair some of thecommittees.ThePresidentmentionedtogettheInterestGroupactiveandthesustainabilityoftheInterestGroupaswell.ThereislotofopportunityformemberstocontributetoMySETinmanyareas.The President also hoped that the contribution fromMySET members would bring up theyounger generation in termsof sustainability ofwhat theprevious council hasdone for thenation,religionandforthebestofmankind.The President thanked the members for making the AGM run smoothly and recordedappreciationtotheimmediatepasspresident,EmeritusProf.Dato'Ir.AbangAbdullahAbangAli,formorethan10yearsofcontributiontoMySET.
