T. C. Petty, a forty-year veteran of warehousework at the Port of Houston, stacked his lastpallet load of cargo and parked his fork-lift truckrecently, to join his fellow members of WarehouseLocal 1330 in a little retirement party--his own.With a zest and energy that would be the envyof many a younger man, he said he was going totake up the young man’s job of "hunting, fishingand chasing pretty girls." A native of NewOrleans, Petty came to Houston in 1905. Askedhow old he is, he says that he’ll never see 76again.
