Frontiers of Plant Physiology for Climate Smart Agriculture

National Conference of Plant

Physiology-2021 (NCPP-2021)

2nd Circular

Venue

ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati, Pune (MH)

Climate change is taking a toll on global agricultural productivity and farmers' income. Farmers have

been facing challenges of unprecedented temperature extremes, drought, heavy rainfall, frost, cyclone,

etc. As a result, crops are exposed to multiple stresses such as high temperature, carbon dioxide,

enhanced UV- radiation and incidence of pests and diseases. All these factors contribute in the

reduction of crop productivity, accounting for huge economic loss which calls for immediate attention

and intervention from the scientific community. To deal with such situations, a basic understanding of

the stress tolerance mechanisms of plants and innovations in mitigation strategies are essential. In this

context, the National Conference of Plant Physiology on “Frontiers of Plant Physiology for Climate

Smart Agriculture” is being organized for improving the crop quality and productivity under the climate

change scenario.
