That season marked the eighth straight occurrance of two or more teams qualifying for the tournament, as the Ancient Eight saw two teams receive bids in 2009 and 2010. The draw was impressive, as UMass began the season 2-0-0, and was playing in its third contest of the year during Columbia’s opener.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYThe game-winner came early, as Vana Markarian connected on a header from a Francisco Agrest corner kcik in the fifth minute. Columbia’s defense surrendered only three shots on goal, which were all saved by Dylan Castanheira for his first shutout of the season.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 1-1 COLUMBIASept. 9, 2017 - Durham, N.H.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYArthur Bosua found the net for the first time this season, but a second half score led to a draw at No. 24 New Hampshire, 1-1. Bosua was the first player this season to score a goal against Andrew Pesci from UNH, breaking a 400 minute and 20 second scoreless streak. He had a chance at the game-winner in the second half, but his header sailed just above the crossbar for the draw. Dylan Castanheira saved three shots in the draw for the Lions.

COLUMBIA 2-1 MONMOUTHSept. 12, 2017 - New York, N.Y.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYColumbia stayed unbeaten thanks to one goal in each half against Monmouth. Arthur Bosua assisted Francisco Agrest for a score in the 38th minute. Bosua then netted a goal of his own in the 62nd, thanks to the first career assist from Matthew Swain, and the first of the season from Dylan Mott. Monmouth never gave up, finding the net in the 76th minute to make it a 2-1 match, but only were able to get off one header attempt for the rest of the match, as the Lions improved to 2-0-2 on the season.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYArthur Bosua tallied his first multi-goal match of the season, as Columbia blanked CCSU, 2-0. Danny Laranetto found Bosua in the 22nd minute, before Beto Carrillo served up an assist 13 minutes later in the win, as the Lions improved to 4-0-2 on the season.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYThe No. 15/23 ranked Lions flexed their muscle in the Ivy League opener, defeating Brown 3-0. Columbia improved to 5-0-2, with goals from Dylan Mott, Alex Bangerl, and Artur Bosua. The back line also impressed, allowing just two shots on goal to a Bears team that entered the match at 5-1-1, but exited at 0-1 in Ivy League play.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYA seven-match unbeaten streak to start the season was spoiled, as Pitt handed No. 14 Columbia a 1-0 loss at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. In the 41st minute, Dexter Alexander made a nice move around two Lions defenders, and sent a shot that was deflected over the head of Dylan Castanheira on the left side for the lone goal of the match. Columbia fell to 5-1-2 with the loss.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYAfter a scoreless first half, Columbia fired off three goals in the second against Penn to stay unbeaten at the top of the Ivy League standings. Neither team was able to break through after 110 minutes, as Columbia went home with a 0-0 draw at Princeton. Castanheira and the back line posted the fifth shutout of the season, but the Lions were unable to connect on 21 shots, including seven on goal.

DARTMOUTH 2-1 COLUMBIAOct. 21, 2017 - Hanover, N.H.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYA second half comeback attempt fell short, as No. 20 Dartmouth survived a test against Columbia, 2-1. The Big Green held a 2-0 lead after Noah Paravincini scored in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Lions would stay aggressive. John Denis found the net on a ball that was tipped and just crossed the line in the 87th minute. The Lions got off another shot that was blocked, and Dylan Mott sent a cross towards Arthut Bosua in the closing seconds that was held off, as Dartmouth took command of the Ivy League standings.

COLUMBIA 2-0 RUTGERSOct. 25, 2017 - Piscataway, N.J.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYJohn Denis nailed a free kick goal in the first half, and Arthur Bosua added a second half score to lift Columbia to a 2-0 win at Rutgers. The Lions took home their seventh clean sheet of the season, as the back line allowed a total of only two shots, with one of those being on goal.

STARTING XI QUICK SUMMARYArthur Bosua became the Ivy League Player of the week after tallying four goals in a 6-0 rout of Harvard. Columbia said goodbye to seven seniors prior to the match, then scored twice in the first four minutes as Bosua nailed a header from Francisco Agrest, and tallied a corner kick score. John Denis had one goal and two assists in the match, while Beto Carrillo added the other goal from Kynan Rocks.
