AboutAoyamaTreehouse is a new type of membership community for business leaders in Japan. At Treehouse,

we help people and teams change their behaviors, collaborate better, and develop new skills through a

Mindfitness practice and our innovation methodologies.

We created a sophisticated and relaxing space at Aoyama 1-Chome in the center of Tokyo, as the stage

for this community. It is the first project in Asia by New York-based world-renowned design studio

Roman & Williams. A generous amount of solid wood is combined with modern steel to create a sophisticated

yet calm and welcoming space.

If you are looking for a special place for events, off-site meetings, or presentations, we have an event space

and restaurant, as well as meeting rooms available. We believe your guests will be impressed and inspired

by our unique oasis in Tokyo.

Location and Access

Aoyama Building is situated at the prime location of

Aoyama 1-Chome, in the center of Tokyo, but in a sur-

prisingly quiet environment overlooking the Akasaka

Imperial Property. The building has a direct connection

to 3 subway lines: the Ginza, Hanzomon and Oedo

lines, making it a very convenient location for guests.

Designed to be reminiscent of New York-style, it offers

an open and vibrant space where fixed walls and

doors are intentionally eliminated. It can be used in

different ways, such as for events, seminars and exhi-

bitions that involve drinks and dining. Adjacent to

the event space is a French casual restaurant, terrace

seating, cafe, and a private bar.

an externally facing corridor reminiscent of a Japanese “engawa” from

Interior Design

After being successful as art directors in Hollywood,

Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch founded the

design studio Roman and Williams Building and

Interiors in 2002. They have been highly praised for

their interior design work with the Ace Hotel in New

York and Metropolitan Museum. They incorporate a

technique called “Slow Design” and have been referred

to as one of the hottest designers in the U.S.

“AoyamaTreehouse space is defined by the activ-

ity; then we tailor the experience we want to create

towards that activity. We wanted to keep food

& beverage on the 2nd floor separate from the

multi-purpose, Mindfitness room, meeting rooms

and lounges on the 3rd floor – to create a work life

balance”

“We love to use very common and natural materials.

We avoid all synthetics and fake products. We like to

use very little coatings on our materials and let the

metal and wood age naturally with use and time.”

Collaborators

Based in San Francisco, for over 25 years

SYPartners has been a partner with prominent

companies in various industries such as Apple,

Nike, IBM, Facebook, Starbucks, and Google to

bring transformations to leaders. The concept

and programs at Treehouse are co-developed

with SYPartners.

Itoki is one of the major companies in

Japan’s office furniture industry and is a

majority shareholder of GlobalTreehouse.

Currently, Masamichi Yamada, co-founder of

GlobalTreehouse serves as the chairman at

Itoki.

Roman & Williams is an internationally leading

interior design firm based in New York. As

their very first project in Asia, Treehouse has

attracted attention both in Japan and from the

world.
