Happy Summer from BWH Dietitian Connect. Hope all is well with our alumni and colleagues! New Members of the Brigham Clinical Nutrition Team Liz Daly Liz is originally from Marlborough, MA and earned her B.S. in nutrition from Syracuse University. She completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and her Neonatal Nutrition Fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Hope all is well with our alumni and colleagues!

New Members of the Brigham Clinical Nutrition Team

Liz Daly

Liz is originally from Marlborough, MA and earned her B.S. in nutrition from Syracuse

University. She completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and her

Neonatal Nutrition Fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Upon her return home from Texas,

Liz worked at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital before joining the team at BWH. In her spare

time, she enjoys vacationing on the Cape with friends and family.

Amanda Chu

Amanda received her B.S. in biology with a minor in art history from Boston University.

After finding her passion in preventative healthcare, she began Boston University's combined

MS/DPD/DI program. Amanda completed the main portion of her clinical rotations on the North

Shore at Beverly Hospital. Prior to joining the BWH nutrition team, she worked at Spaulding

Rehabilitation Hospital in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In her free time she enjoys

trying new recipes, running around the Charles, and snowboarding in the winter months.

Heidi Lochen

Heidi received her B.S in Dietetics with minors in Human Physiology and Spanish, as

well as my M.S. in Food and Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in Human Nutritional

Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. After that she moved to Boston to complete

the Brigham and Women’s Dietetic Internship. Since the internship ended, she continues to live

in Jamaica Plain with her 12-year-old Staffordshire mix. recently, Heidi covered a FMLA at

BWH, and now continues working full-time covering cardiac patients two days a week and

floating coverage three days a week.

Jay Patruno

Jay is part of the recent October group of for the 2018-2019 class of dietetic interns,

planning to finish the internship in August 2019. After that, he has been hired to fill the newly

created full-time clinical RD position. Floor/population assignment pending. Jay completed his

DPD at Boston University. He will plan to take the RD exam shortly after finishing the internship

in August and start working in September of 2019.

BWH DI Alumni Achievements

We want to congratulate Benjamin Andrew, a 2014 BWH DI graduate, for recently

completing the MD & MHS in clinical research program at Duke university as well

as matching to the Anesthesiology residency position.

Please see below for brief overview of Ben’s career achievements since

graduating from the BWH DI internship and becoming an RD

Ben Andrew (class of 2014) graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine in May, completing the combined MD & MHS in Clinical Research program. During his time at Duke,

Ben led research projects focused on prediction of perioperative complications in the cardiothoracic surgery and critical care populations. He recently matched into a research-track residency position in anesthesiology at Duke, where he will spend his next 5+ years training as a physician-scientist. He plans to continue his research on risk prediction and decision-making

in high-risk surgical patients while practicing as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and intensivist.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a closely related field plus up to one year of post‑degree course work and/or an internship and preferably one to two years’ experience in pediatrics.

Qualifications:

● Baccalaureate Degree ● Currently Registered and Licensed Dietitian in the State of Massachusetts ● Masters degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience in counseling, behavior

modification techniques and group facilitation ● Experience working with the bariatric population ● Knowledge of metabolism in relation to clinical nutrition ● Knowledge of food chemistry and macro/micro nutrient composition of foods. ● Knowledge of methods for treating the bariatric patient ● Basic interpersonal skills for interaction with a diverse group of people in the work setting
