Giza Systems and Bluwan Partner to Accelerate Middle East Heterogeneous Network RolloutsGiza Systems recently entered into a strategic partnership with Bluwan

S.A., a provider of carrier-grade multi-gigabit wireless solutions.

Responding to the dramatic increase in demand for mobile broadband

in the Middle East, the two companies will provide CAPEX and OPEX

efficient multi-gigabit backhaul to metro and dense urban areas. This

will enable mobile network operators in the region to accelerate their

heterogeneous network (HetNet) deployments.

The partnership leverages Giza Systems’ intimate knowledge of the

specific challenges faced by operators in the region and Bluwan’s

innovative LinkFusion™ point to multipoint millimetre wave backhaul

system. Together, they will deliver on the promise of faster and

ubiquitous mobile broadband.

Bluwan’s LinkFusion™, operating in the 42 GHz band, is better suited

to meet the demand for increased network bandwidth density than

traditional backhaul approaches. It provides the high bandwidth

requirements for increased network density that previous point to

multipoint systems could not accommodate, avoids the expensive

trenching of laying cable, and has a much lower total cost of ownership

than traditional Point to Point (PTP) wireless backhaul solutions.

For the first time, point to multipoint technology can deliver the

guaranteed and maximum performance of point to point but in a

multipoint architecture. LinkFusion™ delivers up to 10 Gbps per

transmission hub, and up to 240 Mbps throughput per terminal.

This enables operators to backhaul up to twenty base stations from

a single sector, each with dedicated bandwidth. The system’s TDD

architecture also gives operators the flexibility to configure their

bandwidth needs based on actual customer demand, leveraging the

42 GHz spectrum, which is widely available in the region.

The LinkFusion system also offers a relay product, giving operators

the ability to extend the range of the system, but also overcome

traditional point to multipoint line of sight challenges. Operators can

also benefit from the wide array of antennas to light up street canyons

in their metro cell deployments. In an economic environment where

operators are urgently seeking to reduce their year on year operational

costs, Bluwan’s LinkFusion™ delivers a system that directly slashes

site acquisition, planning, operations and maintenance overheads

without compromising performance.

The partnership covers more than twenty countries, from North Africa

to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC). Operator trials have

begun in the United Arab Emirates, and will continue in Egypt, where

Giza Systems is headquartered.

Bluwan’s carrier grade multi-gigabit wireless transmission technology

allows service providers to increase the throughput and capacity of

existing networks. Operating in the 12 GHz and 42 GHz spectrum

bands, Bluwan’s technology can be deployed primarily for mobile

فريق جيزة العربية يكمل ويختبر المرحلة

الأولى من مشروع الأحساء

Giza Arabia Completes and Tests First Branch of Al-Hassa Project With yet another exciting step towards optimizing operations of its

clients, Giza Arabia is pleased to announce the successful testing

of the first complete branch of Al-Hassa project for converting open

irrigation channels to closed pipes for the Al-Hassa Irrigation and

Drainage Authority. To carry out the project, Giza Arabia has partnered

with Civil Works Company, which belongs to Al-Rashed Group and is

one of the main contractors in the Saudi water sector.

The test was performed in the presence of Engineer Mohamed Al

Naem, irrigation authority representative to make way for next steps

including installation and commissioning, giving a clear idea on the

current state of implementation, and allow for prompt resolution of any

issues to minimize rework.

Thanks to the efforts of Giza Arabia’s technical team, namely Team

Leader Ashraf Hisham and System Engineers Omar Hagier and

Abdul Aziz Abdo, the successful test phase will be followed by

further enhancements. Additional features are planned to include the

installation of a wireless tower, enabling remote SCADA testing from

site, in preparation of the next scheduled test.

Al-Hassa Irrigation and Drainage Water Authority project involves

upgrading the irrigation network. Giza Arabia is implementing a fully

automated system that includes the deployment of SCADA, PLC,

RTUs, wireless communication, field instruments, control valves and

hydrometers.

The scope of work entails the supply, engineering, supervising

installation, commissioning, and start-up for the operation, as well

as the monitoring and control of 3,090 farmer outlets in Al-Hassa

irrigation.

The project is part of a massive program undertaken by the Ministry of

Agriculture to revitalize the country’s infrastructure. Al-Hassa Irrigation

and Drainage Authority (HIDA) is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and

is in charge of hydrological studies and data collection to improve the

use of water for irrigation needs.

HIDA is also responsible for: conservation of irrigation water;

estimation of crop water requirements; distribution of irrigation water

to the farms; operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage

canal systems in the irrigation schemes managed by the Ministry.

Giza Arabia strives to enhance the operations of its clients by

streamlining the engineering process and ensuring that compatibility

and flexibility are incorporated in the integration process. في خطوة أخرى مثيرة نحو تعظيم كفاءة تشغيل الشبكات لدى العملاء، تفتخر جيزة العربية أن

تعلن عن نجاح عملية إختبار المرحلة الأولى من مشروع الأحساء لتحويل قنوات الري المكشوفة

إلى أنابيب مغلقة لصالح هيئة الأحساء للري والصرف الصحي.

ولتطبيق المشروع، فقد دخلت جيزة العربية في شراكة مع شركة الأعمال المدنية )سيفيل ووركس

كومباني( التابعة لمجموعة الراشد، إحدى شركات المقاولة الرائدة في قطاع المياه السعودي.

وتم الإختبار بحضور المهندس محمد النعيم ، ممثل هيئة الأحساء للري والصرف الصحي، وذلك

لتنفيذ العام الوضع عن فكرة لإعطاء والتشغيل، التركيب مرحلة نحو قدماً الطريق لتمهيد

المشروع حتى الآن، لتصحيح أية مشاكل في وقتها وذلك لتفادي إعادة العمل في مراحل متقدمة.

التقني، وبالأخص المهندس المشرف على فريق العمل وبفضل مجهودات فريق جيزة العربية

أشرف هشام، ومهندسي الأنظمة عمر هجير وعبد العزيز عبده، فقد تمت المرحلة الأولى بنجاح،

وسيليها المزيد من التعديلات والتطويرات. ومن المقرر أن تشمل المميزات الإضافية تركيب برج

لاسلكي مما يسمح باختبار السكادا عن بعد من الموقع، تحضيراً للمرحلة الثانية.

يتضمن مشروع تحويل قنوات الري المكشوفة إلى أنابيب مغلقة بالأحساء تطوير شبكة الري

عن طريق تركيب نظام تحكم متكامل يشمل نظام سكادا – وحدات تحكم طرفية – نظام

اتصال لاسلكي – أجهزة قياس الضغط و التدفق و منسوب المياه بالإضافة إلى صمامات التحكم

التوريد، على العمل نطاق وينطوي المزارعين. مخارج عند المياه عدادات و الري شبكة في

والتصميم، والإشراف على التركيب، والتشغيل، وكذلك رصد ومراقبة 30٩0 مخرج للمزارعين في

منطقة ري الأحساء.

المشروع هو جزء من خطة واسعة تابعة لوزارة الزراعة السعودية لتطوير البنية التحتية لشبكة

الري الوطنية، وتعتبر هيئة الأحساء للري واصرف الصحي – التابعة لوزارة الزراعة السعودية

المياه البيانات لتحسين طرق إستخدام موارد الهيدرولوجية وجمع الدراسات – المسؤولة عن

لأغراض الري. كما أن الهيئة مسؤولة أيضاً عن الحفاظ على موارد مياه الري، تقدير الإحتياجات

المائية للمحاصيل، توزيع مياه الري على المزارع، وتشغيل وصيانة أنظمة قنوات الري والصرف

في مشروعات الري التي تديرها الوزارة.

وتسعى جيزة العربية جاهدة لتعزيز عمليات عملائها من خلال تبسيط عملية الهندسة وضمان

التوافق والمرونة في عملية التكامل والدمج.

إعتماداً على قدرات جيزة سيستمز التقنية، وخبراتها الواسعة ومعرفتها العميقة بالسوق، بالإضافة إلى شراكاتها الإستراتيجية مع شركات

عالمية رائدة في مجال الكهرباء والطاقة – مثل شركة J-POWER، إحدى أبرز الشركات اليابانية في مجال الطاقة الكهربائية –

فقد كلفت الشركة المصرية لنقل الكهرباء شركة جيزة سيستمز بالمشروع مع الثقة التامة بتحقيق أفضل النتائج.

"نحن نقدر كثيراً العمل مع الشركة المصرية لنقل الكهرباء على هذا المشروع، والاستفادة من تكنولوجيا INVAR الفريدة

التنفيذ قبل موسم الصيف القادم."

القدرة ذو INVAR واستبداله بموصل الحالية، ACSR موصلات تفكيك المشروع تنفيذ ويستلزم

وكذلك بدء العمليات وتدريب فريق المشغلين على إستخدام النظام الجديد. ومن المخطط أن يؤثر

هذا المشروع هو جزء من خطة وطنية سريعة وواسعة النطاق، تهدف إلى الحد من مشاكل الكهرباء في أنحاء الجمهورية، وتقليل

نسبة حدوث إنقطاع الكهرباء في موسم الصيف، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز قدرات الشبكة في النقل، وخفض تكاليف التشغيل والمساعدة

على حل التحديات في مجال الطاقة في المنطقة.

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) recently awarded Giza Systems the project for Cairo

500/Sadat 220KV OHTL – Thermal Conductor – INVAR.

Relying on Giza Systems’ technical capabilities, extensive experience and knowledge of the

market, as well as its partnerships with global leaders in the field of electricity and power –

like J-Power, one of Japan’s prominent electric power vendors – the Egyptian Electricity

Transmission Company awarded the project to Giza Systems with confidence that the optimal

results will be achieved.

“We highly value working with Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company on this project,

utilizing the unique INVAR technology that enhances transmission capacity, without

having to alter the already existing towers.” commented Amr Sherif, Transmission and

Distribution General Manager.

Giza Systems’ scope of work entails the dismantlement of the existing ACSR

conductors, and installation of a new high current carrying capacity INVAR

conductor, with the supply, design, engineering, procurement, installation,

training, testing, commissioning, and start-up of all related fittings and

accessories. This implementation is set to influence 58Km OHTL Double

Circuit Route from Cairo500 S/S up to Sadat S/S 220KV.

“With the global and local challenges facing the power industry,

operational efficiency is essential. In addition to environmental and

economic considerations, incorporating agile systems and efficient

transmission solutions help electricity providers achieve increased performance

and optimization for their power plants,” expressed Hazem Salah El Din, Pre Sales

Manager.

The implementation of this project is part of a carefully devised governmental plan to minimize power

outages during the upcoming summer season, as well as enhance the power transmission capability,

optimizing costs and helping solve power challenges in the area.

شهر مارس بفندق ماريوت بالرياض، وفي مدينة جدة على التوالي.

Stepping up efforts to address the continuous water challenges in

Saudi Arabia, Schneider Electric hosted a forum showcasing the latest

Smart Water solutions for ensuring a sustainable water future for Saudi

Arabia. The Schneider Electric Smart Water Solutions forum was held

on 10th March at the Marriot Hotel, Riyadh, and 12th March in Jeddah.

Being an Alliance Integration Partner with Schneider Electric, Giza

Arabia exhibited and participated at the event, announcing cutting-

edge solutions and presentig their portfolio, as well as connecting and

networking with potential clients.

“Participating at the Schneider Electric Smart Water Solutions

forum is a great opportunity to discover new industry possibilities.

It enables Giza Arabia to cultivate relationships, observe trends and

create awareness about its services,” stated Ashraf Attia, Giza Arabia

General Manager. “The Saudi water industry is constantly growing,

with increasing demands to make the best out of what nature offers.

Being here makes this possible, through constant collaboration with

Following a welcome note, participants had the

Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to

represent Egypt at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in 2013. This

year, the GSMA was held at the Grand Via in Barcelona, Spain from

25th - 28th February, 2013.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is an annual event that hosts and

connects leading market players in the field of mobile technology

and telecommunications. With an attendance of over 72,000

visitors, the 2013 conference was the largest in the history of GSMA

Mobile World Congress. “It was an honor to represent Egypt for the

third consecutive year at the GSMA. The new venue was spacious,

which allowed for greater attendance and increased networking

opportunities. We felt extremely proud to be a part of the exciting

lineup of industry experts,” said Waleed Darwish, Telecom OSS

Exhibiting at the GSMA Mobile World Congress opens doors

for organizations to connect and network with attendees, while

In line with Giza Systems’ continuous efforts in terms of corporate

social responsibility, the company hosted a “Generosity Day” at its

headquarters in New Cairo on Wednesday 6th of March. The event

took place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and included collaboration with

the Association of Friends of the National Cancer Institute (AFNCI),

Tawasol NGO, Fat’het Kheir NGO, as well as collecting donations in

kind for garage sale items for the benefit of Green Sonbola Association,

and monetary donations for the EGP-25 Initiative.

Donating Blood

The blood donations – collected by physicians from the Association of

Friends of the National Cancer Institute (AFNCI) – will benefit cancer

patients at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). On average, around

8 drives a week need to be organized in order to ensure a sufficient

supply of blood for the patients. One pint of donated blood helps up to

three people, as it is divided into plasma, platelets and red blood cells.

“We appreciate Giza Systems taking the initiative of organizing

periodic blood drives, for the need for safe blood and blood products is

constant. We are always excited about holding drives at Giza Systems

for we value such cooperation, and appreciate the enthusiasm we

see there.” said Sherif Mamdouh, General Coordinator of Blood Bank

Team at the Association of Friends of the National Cancer Institute

(AFNCI), adding “The spirit of the employees coming to donate blood

is always refreshing, for they understand the greatness of doing so,

and the impact it has on cancer patients, and the quality of their lives.”

Buying a Souvenir for a Good Cause

Among the NGOs benefiting from the event were Tawasol and Fat’het

Kheir, whose representatives held a handmade goods and crafts sale,

just across the hall from the blood donation station.

The products were crafted by housewives sponsored by Tawasol

and Fat’het Kheir, and included silver and beaded accessories, home

accessories and colorful calligraphic decorative pieces.

Giving Something Back

The Green Sonbola Association is an NGO focused mainly on hosting

and housing orphans. The association organizes periodic garage

sales where they sell donations that include used clothing items, toys,

stationery, blankets, kitchen ware, and more. The revenue of their sale

goes to the benefit of the orphans housed at the Association.

At Giza Systems, we encourage our colleagues to consider seasonal

cleanups and bring along any items they no longer need, for the

benefit of the Green Sonbola garage sale. During the “Generosity

Day” several donation boxes were set up on location to facilitate the

collection of items brought by our colleagues. Kind and generous

donations were received.

The EGP-25 Initiative

It is an employee initiative that started out as an idea back in 2008,

when Ahmed Yehia of Giza Systems suggested collecting donations

for the benefit of sporadic individual cases in dire need of financial

assistance. After discussing the idea with his colleagues, it was

agreed that 25 pounds was the appropriate figure to be donated by

those interested, since it is merely the amount one pays for a takeout

lunch at the office. Building on the fact that many people tend to make

donations during the Holy month of Ramadan; this is when it was

launched.

Asmaa Emad, Mona Gamal, Mohamed Abd El Fattah, Sarah Sobhi,

Doaa Zaki, Ayman Naeem, Salma Serry, Dalia Emam, Eman Hamdy,

Ayat Koshak, Sally Mohammady and the initiative coordinator, Ahmed

Osama.

Among the beneficiaries of the initiative are local orphanages,

underprivileged families, residents of marginalized areas, Ramadan

meals for underprivileged neighborhoods, etc.

“In light of the current challenges facing the Egyptian society, the role of

NGOs has become more valuable in implementing important changes

in the society. There are many NGOs in Egypt, playing an active role

in the development issues, utilizing their expertise

in civil action and contributing to provide many

programs aiding the financial empowerment

of women, especially women who

support families. Among

spare. The initiative was a huge success, thanks to the great turnout.

الشركة ما أطلقت عليه "يوم الكرم" والذي أقيم في مقر الشركة بالتجمع الخامس يوم الأربعاء

السادس من مارس، من الساعة 11 صباحاً وحتى 4 عصراً، حيث شاركت فيه جمعية أصدقاء

من متطوع فريق قام كما خير، فاتحة وجمعية تواصل، وجمعية للسرطان، الوطني المعهد

جيزة سيستمز بجمع التبرعات العينية لصالح معرض جمعية السنبلة الخضراء لرعاية الأيتام،

والتبرعات المادية التابعة لحملة "2٥ جنيه".

حملة التبرع بالدم

ستفيد التبرعات بالدم – والتي جمعت بمعرفة أطباء تابعين لجمعية أصدقاء المعهد الوطني

للسرطان – مرضى المعهد القومي للأورام. ويحتاج المعهد القومي للأورام إلى ما لا يقل عن ٨

حملات في الأسبوع لتلبية إحتياجات مرضاه. ويكفي نصف لتر من الدم المتبرع به لمساعدة حتى

ثلاث مرضى، حيث يتم تقسيمه إلى بلازما وصفائح دموية وخلايا دم حمراء.

"نحن نقدر كثيرأ ما تقوم به شركة جيزة سيستمز من مبادرات التبرع بالدم الدورية، لأن الحاجة

للدم الآمن ومنتجاته لا تتوقف. ولهذا فنحن دائماً متحمسين لإقامة الحملات في الشركة، فجميع

جمع عدداً من التبرعات بفضل كرم الزملاء.

يحيى جمع أحمد الزميل إقترح عندما ،200٨ موظفي جيزة سيستمز في من نبعت مبادرة

تبرعات لحالات فردية تحتاج للمساعدة، وتم الإتفاق على مبلغ 2٥ جنيه، ما يقارب ثمن وجبة

غداء. وبدأت الحملة في شهر رمضان الكريم لأن معظم الأشخاص يفضلون التبرع خلاله.

ومع مرور الوقت وتبلور الحملة وجعلها شهرية، تم إختيار بعضاً من المتطوعين لجمع التبرعات

في كل قسم، والمتطوعين هم الزملاء أسماء عماد، منى جمال، محمد عبد الفتاح، ساره صبحي،

محمدي، سالي كوشاك، آيات حمدي، إيمان إمام، داليا سري، سلمى نعيم، أيمن زكي، دعاء

For real effective solutions to the Egyptian community’s

development issues, solutions beyond mere monetary

donations are essential to ensure sustainability. With that in

mind, Giza Systems Foundation pushes on with its initiative at

‘Khatawat School,’ in cooperation with Tawasol for Developing

Istabl Antar. The initiative aims at employing and utilizing

information and communication technology in the field of

education.

Khatawat School is located in one of the most important – and

most populated – marginalized areas in Cairo; Ezbet Kheirallah

in Old Cairo. Like all other marginalized neighborhoods, Ezbet

Kheirallah lacks basic services and infrastructure requisite

for a decent standard of living. Giza Systems Foundation,

together with Tawasol, is keen on providing a variety of

activities aimed at building human and institutional capacity

through the employment of information and communication

technology in education.

The Foundation also takes into account the need to improve

standards of living of the residents to reduce the negative

effects of poverty and societal marginalization in all its forms.

By creating a sustainable impact – not only among children

in schools, but in the entire educational system – community

schools will be able to optimize processes and reinforce

capacity building from within, thus, giving children greater

opportunities to participate and innovate.

With the beginning of 2013, the Foundation adopted the

implementation of the active learning program, “Abjad”, at

“Khatawat” School. “Abjad” is the latest and most advanced

educational program targeting children from four to seven

years of age. It aims at teaching them their mother tongue –

Arabic – through the use of three-dimensional plastic letters,

as well as a number of tools including books, interactive CDs,

educational games and mathematical puzzles.

The curriculum of “Abjad’ includes the principles of

mathematics, science, biology, in addition to other general

knowledge studies like the seasons, months, animals and

occupations. It also incorporates the principles of art in terms

of teaching students about colors and how to mix them, as

well as involving them in basic art projects. The program

also accommodates children with learning difficulties, where

“Khatawat” School teachers get to work closely with mentors

from Giza Systems who incorporate the use of different

solutions to aid those with reading and writing challenges.

Giza Systems Foundation also adopted the

implementation of “Shadoof” program – where it

supplied integrated agricultural units equipped with

automatic irrigation systems, customized to be

placed in balconies. These units were installed on

one of the school’s main verandas, to plant an

assortment of fruits and vegetables that the

students could later on enjoy eating as part

of their healthy balanced meals offered at

the school cafeteria. Moreover, it plays

an important role in teaching them

about plants, and cultivating their

interest in planting and gardening –

with practical training – as well as caring

for the environment.

The Foundation is preparing to initiate many activities and

programs in 2013 at “Khatawat” School, including:

• Inauguration and operation of the information and

communications technology center at the school, and

connecting it to the Internet, as well as guaranteeing

its continuity and sustainability. In addition, training the

school team on using and maintaining the center, as well

as supplying an information kit.

• A training program designed to enable teachers to

practically prepare lessons and teach using technologies

that offer visual and sound aids through video and audio,

graphics and photos, as well as through research on the

Internet and through the use of various aids.A training

program that aims at raising the capacity of teachers, the

program addresses new and different teaching methods;

classroom management techniques; different learning

styles; interactive teaching that adopts innovative thinking;

organizing the curriculum; lesson planning; mechanisms

for the continuous assessment of students. The program

also addresses the culture of change; leadership attributes

for educators; and the impact of teachers’ spontaneous

actions on students. Furthermore, the program also deals

with themes of psychological and social dimensions, like

dealing with children with special needs, as well as the

growing phenomenon of violence among kids. It also

explores teenage issues and the means to effectively

evaluate their behaviors and offer guidance.

school students, aiming to improve their health, and

physique, as well as raise their nutritional awareness

through interesting and educational curricula addressing

the healthy way of living.

• Providing a sports program for students as soon as

the school training room is equipped and ready to host

activities.

• Contribution to the marketing of handmade products of the

carpentry and carpeting workshops through various charity

exhibitions.

Dedicated to contributing real development solutions, Giza

Systems participated in the Second Annual Conference of

Corporate Social Responsibility, organized by CARE Egypt. The

conference was held to promote the establishment of channels

for dialogue, cultivating cooperation among private sector

companies and members of the civil society, in order to reach

a common understanding and to identify the challenges facing

development issues in Egypt. It was attended by a large number

of representatives from Egyptian and international institutions

and non-governmental organizations, as well as representatives

from the private sector.

The conference discussed the various challenges facing

development issues in Egypt, and the role of CSR as an effective

tool for achieving sustainable development and possible forms

of collaboration between the private sector and civil society. It

also explored the foundations needed for the implementation

of effective strategies and methods to encourage sustainable

participation and involvement from staff for CSR activities.

Giza Systems Foundation plans to launch more initiatives in

cooperation with charity institutions and non-governmental

organizations, as well as private sector companies which

participated in the conference, in order to reconcile the

objectives and different working methods and take advantage

of specialized expertise in an integrated manner among private

sector companies.

One of the first initiatives is a joint initiative with Injaz Egypt; one

of Giza Systems’ key CSR partners, to implement the program

“Ana Wa Moheety” (Me and My Surroundings) – which aims at

familiarizing students with their inner selves and their relationship

with their community, society and human interaction in general

– at “Khatawat” School. The implementation of this program will

help enhance the students’ own confidence, transforming them

into citizens with a broad understanding of their surrounding

community and various challenges in their country.

This joint initiative is only considered the beginning of a series of

future partnerships with various private sector companies and

NGOs, actively addressing development issues in Egypt.

Giza Systems to Implement Major OPGW Project in the Middle East

Giza Systems is looking forward to the opportunity of working with

Egytech and Toyota Tsusho Corporation on implementing the largest

OPGW project in the Middle East involving the upgrade of the energy

control system for the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company

(EETC) in Upper Egypt – Lot 3. EETC’s decision to select Giza Systems

for this project is based on Giza Systems’ longstanding track record,

industry expertise and competitive pricing. The project is to be funded

by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the

consultancy of Tokyo Electric Power Service Company (TEPSCO).

The project consists of the installation and supply of Optical Power

Ground Wire (OPGW 24FC) on a 220 kV T/L network. By replacing the

existing earth wire to OPGW, Giza Systems will enable the Egyptian

Electricity Transmission Company’s HV Network to enhance its

reliability, thus, minimizing outages.

Giza Systems use of optical fiber transmission will take the existing HV

network to the next level, bringing it to the automation age, whereby

efficient monitoring and control of the Upper Egypt HV Network can

be attained. The capacity of the system and communication facilities

will benefit from Giza Systems’ expertise in upgrading EETC’s network

to OPGW. Giza Systems will rise to the challenge of live line stringing

for this high volume project.

“This project will have the distinction of being the largest OPGW project

in the Middle East. For the first time, EETC will be able to cover all of

Upper Egypt’s substations under its monitoring and control umbrella,”

said Amr Sherif, Transmission and Distribution General Manager.

Giza Systems’ agility and industry innovation has been a key advantage

in obtaining this opportunity to work in conjunction with Egytech to

perform the upgrade. Giza Systems’ expertise is underpinned by

the very fact that it will execute the upgrade as a live line installation

to ensure that running services will not be affected. This project

will provide an integrated transmission solution and service quality

upgrade from Cairo to Aswan.

“This upgrade will also establish the requisite infrastructure and

technology needed for controlling power transmission, which

essentially means building the basis to drive the nation towards a

future smart grid,” said Amna Kandil, Senior Sales Account Manager.

Giza Systems’ dynamicity enables it to complete this massive upgrade

in only 24 months after the initial commencement date. Giza Systems

will be responsible for design calculations, engineering, transport,

storage, live line stringing, testing, and commissioning.

Capitalizing on Giza Systems’ vast expertise in the Oil and Gas

industry, Badr El Din Petroleum Company (BAPETCO) awarded Enppi

and Giza Systems Obayied RS3 DCS Migration Project.

Partnering with Honeywell, Giza Systems is contracted to supply and

set up DCS and control equipment at Obayied site in the Western

Desert. The implementation of this project will contribute to solving

a number of issues on-site, for it will enhance the stability and

consistency of the production units of Obayied gas plant which will

reflect positively on the production of natural gas – one of the most

vital national resources. The solutions will also improve communication

between the different production units; achieve control system

availability, fast response and high level of service support for such

critical applications. The project will aid in maintaining and ensuring

better control of national resources to achieve the maximum benefit

of them.

the project will entail replacing the old Emerson

interfacing with different existing sub-systems.

Giza Arabia Earns Prestigious ISO-9001:2008 Certification

Giza Arabia recently earned the prestigious ISO-9001:2008

certification. The company has been working diligently over the past

12 months – with its team of experienced Quality Assurance experts,

together with the entire management organization – on implementing

the comprehensive ISO-9001 compliant quality system. The audit was

performed by TÜV General Manager in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The company earned the ISO 9001:2008 by demonstrating their ability

to consistently provide quality services that meet customer needs, as

well as regulatory requirements, while carrying out plans to enhance

customer satisfaction through continuous improvement measures.

The ISO 9001:2008 is the latest quality management system standard

issued by the International Organization for Standardization providing

organizations from all over the world with an established framework for

managing processes. The ISO 9001:2008 ensures that organizations

satisfy the global requirements of quality, by ensuring the effectiveness

of quality management within an organization through its processes.

“The ISO 9001:2008 standards set out the basic requirements for a

practical and effective quality management system (QMS) which is,

in essence, a system for minimizing risk and maximizing opportunity,”

stated Nehad Mohamed, Giza Systems Quality Assurance Manager.

She added, “The standard helped Giza Arabia in the process of

analyzing and improving each element in their operations, from the

selection of suppliers to sales and service provision. Giza Arabia has

become known for superior business solutions and services that

allow organizations to keep up with the evolving changes in today’s

competitive business environment.”

OHSAS 18001-2007 requirements.
