Giza Arabia Signs the FAT Certificate with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation Continuing to support technological advancement in every aspect of its clients’ processes, Giza Arabia has successfully signed the FAT certificate for the flame scanners system replacement for Shoaiba PH II boilers.

The turnkey project was initiated in March 2018, when the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) selected Giza Arabia for its best technical and commercial offer. The implementation aims to replace the existing obsolete flame scanner system with a more reliable solution by March 2021.

The flame scanner solution provided by Giza Arabia was required for five utility boiler units generating 112MW each, and 10 units of MSF evaporators producing 45,500 M3/day water of the total SWCC Shoaiba power and desalination plant capacity.

Giza Arabia’s scope of work included the supply, erection, testing, commissioning, handover, and training for the flame scanner solution serving the five units. The Company cooperated with SWCC to ensure safe operation in the five utility boiler units by providing the most advanced flame scanner system technology.

The FAT was signed at Giza Arabia’s partner facilities, John Zink Company LLC in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after four months from the project initiation, where SWCC witnessed the flame scanner operations. The test was performed according to the inspection plan, and the FAT certificate was signed on the 31st of July, 2018.

About The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) is a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for the desalination of seawater producing electric power and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water. The corporation was established by royal decree as an independent government corporation. SWCC consolidates the natural water resource in various regions and cities of the Kingdom where there are severe fresh water shortages, through the process of desalination. In addition to water production, SWCC has activities in electrical power production, water transmission, scientific research and desalination techniques; and human resources.

بدأ املرشوع )تسليم مفتاح( يف مارس ٢٠١٨، حني انتقت املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه املالحة باململكة العربية السعودية رشكة جيزة العربية بسبب عرضها التقني والتجاري األفضل. ويهدف

التنفيذ إىل استبدال نظام ماسح الشعلة املتقادم بحلول أكرث موثوقية بحلول مارس ٢٠٢١.

وكان نظام ماسح الشعلة الذي وفرته جيزة العربية مطلوباً لخمسة وحدات غيل كل منها تعمل

MSF تنتج ٤٥٥٠٠ مرت مكعب من عىل توليد ١١٢ ميجاواط، وعرشة وحدات من مبخرات املياه يومياً من إجاميل الطاقة اإلنتاجية ملحطة الشعيبة للطاقة وتحلية املياه.

وشمل نطاق عمل جيزة العربية التوريد واإلنتاج واالختبار والتكليف والتسليم والتدريب لحل العامة املؤسسة مع العربية جيزة وتعاونت الخمسة. الوحدات يخدم الذي الشعلة ماسح لتحلية املياه يف هذا املرشوع لضامن التشغيل اآلمن يف وحدات الغاليات الخدمية الخمسة من

تم توقيع اختبار قبول املصنع )FAT( يف مقر رشيك جيزة العربية، رشكة جون زينك ذ.م.م يف تلسا، بوالية أوكالهوما بالواليات املتحدة األمريكية، بعد أربعة أشهر من بدء املرشوع، حيث

شهدت املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه عمليات ماسح الشعلة. وتم إجراء االختبار طبقاً لخطة

التفتيش، وجرى توقيع شهادة الـ FAT يف ٣١ يوليو، ٢٠١٨.

عن املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه املالحة

املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه املالحة هي رشكة سعودية حكومية مسؤولة عن تحلية مياه البحر

الرشكة مبوجب تأسست مبياه محاله. اململكة مناطق الكهربية، ومتد مختلف الطاقة وتوليد

مرسوم مليك كرشكة حكومية مستقلة. تقوم املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه املالحة بتعزيز املوارد

الطبيعية للمياه يف مختلف مناطق ومدن اململكة حيث يوجد نقص حاد يف املياه العذبة، من

خالل عملية التحلية. إىل جانب إنتاج املياه، تقوم املؤسسة العامة لتحلية املياه املالحة بأنشطة

املياه العلمي وتقنيات تحلية املياه والبحث الكهربائية ونقل الطاقة إنتاج مختلفة يف مجال

واملوارد البرشية.

Giza Arabia Ranks Up in the Saudi Contractors ClassificationBuilding on its commitment to excellence, Giza Arabia was awarded a major upgrade in its contractor classification by the Contractors Classification Agency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Contractors Classification Certificate is a certificate provided by the Classification Agency, under the authority of the Ministry of Municipality and Rural Affairs of the KSA. It rates and classifies contractors according to a set of rules, regulations and specific criteria in different scopes within the construction sector. A contractor is classified in the grade consistent with their financial, technical, administrative, and execution capabilities in one or more of the classification fields, according to elements and criteria specified in the regulations.

Giza Arabia received its second classification certificate in the following areas: water and sanitation, electronic works, electrical works, and communication technology; thereby increasing its standing in terms of capabilities and scope. The certificate is considered a prequalification for contractors to participate in governmental and non-governmental tenders, rendering it essential for a company’s growth and expansion in the Saudi market.

Since receiving its first classification in power transmission lines, stations, transformers and generators, this year, Giza Arabia has moved up the ranks to achieve a grade 4 in the scope of electrical works. Additionally, it has earned a classification grade 4 in water and sanitation works.

Giza Arabia received a major jump in classification in both electronic works and communication technology, boosting it from a previous grade 5 to a grade 2. With the exponential increase in classification grade, Giza Arabia is now able to undertake even larger projects in electronic works, in terms of installation and automatic control; and communication technology involving telecommunication and network extension.

These classification upgrades reflect Giza Arabia’s successful track record of projects undertaken for the various Saudi governmental entities. The quality, value and magnitude of these projects were the key drivers in achieving the considerable advancements in classification grades.

The significant increase in classification grade is expected to expand Giza Arabia’s penetration of the Saudi market and bolster its standing as a main contractor, as the certificate attests to the company’s capabilities and performance qualifying it for even larger projects.

Thanks to this classification upgrade, Giza Arabia is now able to leap forward and realize its aspirations of making its mark on the Saudi market by fully utilizing the Company’s staff expertise and deploying the latest technologies.

Determined to achieve even higher standards of excellence, Giza Arabia is currently setting its strategy to raise its standards for implementation starting early 2019, with a forthcoming plan to attain yet another upgrade at the next classification.

بناءاً عىل التزامها بالتميز، تم منح جيزة العربية ترقية كبرية يف تصنيف املقاولني الخاص بها من قبل وكالة تصنيف املقاولني يف اململكة العربية السعودية.

شهادة تصنيف املقاولني هي شهادة متنحها وكالة التصنيف، تحت سلطة وزارة الشؤون البلدية التي تقدر وتصنف املقاولني وفقاً ملجموعة من قواعد العربية السعودية، والقروية باململكة ولوائح ومعايري محددة يف مجاالت مختلفة داخل قطاع البناء. ويتم تصنيف املقاول يف الدرجة مجاالت من واحد يف التنفيذية وقدراته واإلداريــة والفنية املالية مقدرته مع يتناسب مبا

التصنيف أو أكرث، طبقاً للعنارص واملعايري املحددة يف اللوائح.

وحصلت جيزة العربية عىل شهادة تصنيفها الثانية يف كل من مجاالت: أعامل املياه والرصف زيادة وبالتايل االتصاالت؛ وتكنولوجيا الكهربائية، واألعامل اإللكرتونية، واألعامل الصحي، مكانتها من حيث القدرات والنطاق. وتعترب الشهادة مبثابة تأهيل مسبق للمقاولني للمشاركة يف املناقصات الحكومية وغري الحكومية، مام يجعلها رضورية لنمو الرشكة وتوسعها يف السوق

السعودي.

Successful Smart Irrigation Pilot Project Achieving a 44% decrease in water consumption and a 21% increase in the quantity of crops

Giza Arabia has completed its Smart Irrigation pilot project for the Saudi Irrigation Organization, formerly known as Al Hassa Irrigation & Drainage Authority (HIDA). The project aims to achieve water sustainability through enhancing the irrigation and fertilization systems in the city of Al-Hassa, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The pilot project was launched in one of Al Sheikh Al Rashed farms in Al-Hassa. In order to assess the impact of smart irrigation management, the client provided two similar land plots for comparative analysis; each with an area of 5 acres (250 palm trees/plot).

The parameters used to assess the impact of smart agriculture in this project consist in resource management optimization and quantity of crop harvest. These two parameters were selected to enable the measurement of potential benefits in terms of reduction in operation costs and enhancement of resource utilization.

To carry out the pilot, one of the plots maintained the traditional irrigation and fertilization methods, while the second plot was used to implement the smart irrigation system. Sensors, RTUs and other devices were installed to deploy the system and evaluate the impact of smart agriculture on the amount of irrigation water used, as well as on the quantity of the yield during the harvest.

The traditional irrigation system uses the flooding irrigation method, which basically entails flooding the land with copious amounts of water to grow the crops. It relies on the farmers’ experience and conventional uncalculated predictions to estimate the amount of water needed by the crops and soil. The new implemented solution applies the dripping irrigation technique around the palm tree to regulate and control the amount of water. Tailoring the irrigation specifications for the plot involved the Giza Arabia team placing moisture sensors at different levels in the soil. The data from these sensors was relayed to the SCADA servers, through the RTUs, and used in conjunction with the weather forecast to accurately determine the next irrigation date and amount of water needed to achieve optimal water consumption.

In addition to the variation in irrigation techniques, a new fertilization plan was applied to the second plot. The new fertilization method aimed to increase the efficiency of the fertilizers, and increase the quality and quantity of the crop. The new plan first introduced mineral fertilizers, and then converted fertilization methods from surface scattering to one of fertigation, which is the technique of dissolving fertilizers into irrigation water; thus, achieving increased efficiency.

Throughout the ten months duration of the pilot, water consumption rates used in the irrigation of both plots were monitored. At the end of the pilot and during harvest time, crop yield from both plots were weighed, and samples were sent out for testing at a professional independent lab in KSA.

The results of the pilot were staggering; they showed the successful achievement of a 44% decrease in water consumption, a 21% increase in the quantity of crop, and a significant improvement in the quality of the dates.

This pilot project is a major win not only for Giza Arabia but for the various entities everywhere aiming to achieve sustainable water management in the face of the world’s pressing water challenges.

تم إطالق املرشوع التجريبي يف إحدى مزارع الشيخ الراشد يف األحساء، ومن أجل تقييم تأثري مبساحة منها كل املقارن. للتحليل متشابهتني أرض قطعتي العميل قدم الذكية، الري إدارة

املستخدمة، وكذلك عىل كمية املحصول أثناء الحصاد.

ويستخدم نظام الري التقليدي طريقة الري بالغمر، والتي تستلزم بشكل أسايس إغراق األرض بكميات وفرية من املياه لزراعة املحاصيل. وهو يعتمد عىل خربة املزارعني والتكهنات التقليدية غري املحسوبة لتقدير كمية املياه التي تحتاجها املحاصيل والرتبة. يطبق الحل الجديد املنفذ

تقنية الري بالتنقيط حول شجرة النخيل لتنظيم ومراقبة كمية املياه. وتضمنت تهيئة مواصفات الري الخاصة بالقطعة فريق جيزة العربية الذي وضع أجهزة استشعار الرطوبة عىل مستويات من خالل إىل خوادم سكادا، املجسات من هذه البيانات نقل تم الرتبة، حيث من مختلفة وحدات معالجة البيانات RTUs، واستخدامها مع توقعات الطقس لتحديد تاريخ الري القادم

ومقدار املياه الالزمة لتحقيق استهالك املياه األمثل بدقة.

التباين يف تقنيات الري، تم تطبيق خطة جديدة للتسميد عىل املخطط الثاين، وباإلضافة إىل حيث هدفت طريقة التسميد الجديدة إىل زيادة كفاءة األسمدة، وزيادة جودة وكمية املحصول. وضعت الخطة الجديدة ألول مرة األسمدة املعدنية، ثم تحولت أساليب اإلخصاب من االنتشار

السطحي إىل أسلوب تذويب األسمدة يف مياه الري، وبالتايل تم تحقيق زيادة الكفاءة.

Giza Arabia Participates in the Water Quality in Public Networks Conference and Exhibition in Al-Qassim Giza Arabia participated in the Water Quality in Public Networks Conference and Exhibition in Al-Qassim, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event was held at King Khalid Cultural Center in the city of Buraidah on the 7th and 8th of October, 2018.

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Meshaal bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, inaugurated the event, in attendance of Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Governor of Al-Qassim Province, and H.E. Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al Fadhli.

The conference aimed to raise awareness about the importance of effective management for the water distribution sector. It showcased the use of the latest modern technologies to serve the largest number of beneficiaries in all regions of the Kingdom, as well as highlighted the rigorous process employed to ensure that drinking water services are aligned with the highest international standards.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water Services, the Chief Executive of the National Water Company, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Mukaili, pointed out that the water distribution sector aims to provide solutions and initiatives that ensure the provision of water needs through strategic projects, including extending water networks to all facilities and homes. He indicated that the total length of water networks implemented to date is estimated at 118 million meters.

Al-Mukaili also explained that the sector’s outputs reflect the success of the corrective steps that are being implemented, in addition to the efficient systems and the operational and administrative procedures utilized in the sector. He stressed that there is a great challenge facing the water distribution sector due to the increase in demand. This demand drives the sector to move towards achieving the national vision of providing the best services in the water and environmental fields for citizens and residents, in accordance with the initiatives and objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020.

During the event, the team from Giza Arabia showcased the Company’s various solutions serving the water industry, and met with representatives from different agencies to explore potential areas of collaboration. They also discussed in-depth the indispensable need for a solid infrastructure to support market stabilization and improved coordination for the supply of resources.

Giza Systems Participates in the Second Arab Sustainable Development Week of 2018The Second Arab Sustainable Development Week was held from the 19th to the 22nd of November at the Conrad Cairo Hotel under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The event was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Administrative Reform, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Arab League.

Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform, attended the opening ceremony that was held at the Arab League headquarters. The opening was also attended by the Arab League Secretary General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, and representatives from the participating Arab countries.

The four-day-event brought together over 120 representatives from regional and international organizations, experts, and NGOs. The event created an opportunity for representatives to form strategic alliances to work together on achieving developmental and sustainability goals in the Arab region.

In early 2016, the United Nations 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development came to identify a

set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are a universal call to action to end all forms of poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by tackling the root causes.

The League of Arab States represented the optimal setting for Arab countries to kickoff the dialogue on how best to achieve and materialize the SDGs by 2030. Supporting this Arab cooperation, the event provided a rich platform to translate the UN Agenda into collaborative programs to be implemented in the Arab region.

On the last day of the event, Minister Hala El-Saeed inaugurated "Egypt Day" as part of the event’s closing activities. The closing was attended by Richard Dictus, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt.

"Egypt Day" was a one day event dedicated to highlighting Egypt’s vision and plan to achieve sustainable development, and issues related to health, education, and the economy. Sessions were held tackling a number of topics and challenges in various verticals; such as renewable energy, innovation, and scientific research. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education; and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt were amongst the contributors enriching the dialogue during the day.

Giza Systems Hosts Utilities and Oil and Gas Seminars in New Cairo Giza Systems recently hosted a two-day seminar for the Utilities and Oil and Gas industry verticals; the event was held on the 15th and 16th of October at JW Marriott Hotel in New Cairo, Egypt.

In light of its constant growth and its technical know-how, Giza Systems is ideally positioned to share industry best practices accumulated from decades of project implementation and integration capabilities across the different verticals.

Giza Systems teams held presentations exploring the latest technologies in both the Utilities and Oil and Gas fields. Keynote speakers elaborated on the various technologies offered by

the Technology Infrastructure, Process Control, Transmission and Distribution, Smart Buildings, Field Solutions, Enterprise Business Solutions, SCADA, and Electromechanical lines of business in the Company.

The seminar showcased the Company’s diverse portfolio of solutions and wide range of offerings serving both sectors. Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas Awards Giza Systems 56Km North Gas Pipeline Project

Building on its longstanding successful business relationship with Giza Systems, the Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas awarded Giza Systems the 56Km North Gas Pipeline project in Jordan for the implementation of SCADA and ISS systems. The proposed systems will enhance the safety and protection of the pipeline, decrease power consumption, and reduce operational costs. The selection of Giza Systems was based on its experience, reliability and ongoing SCADA consultation services it provides to FAJR. Giza Systems has closely worked with FAJR on a number of successful projects including the deployment of SCADA for the main line built by Enppi and Petrojet; the implementation of control and communication works; and the extension of gas pipelines.

For the SCADA part of the project, Giza Systems was contracted to modify and upgrade the existing SCADA and Fiber Optics Transmission Systems of the Jordanian gas pipeline network. The scope covers the upgrade and modifications of all hardware such as RTUs, cables, accessories, and software configuration to accommodate all the new modifications.

Throughout the project, Giza Systems is to provide design, supply, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and testing services. It will also be responsible for the communication system at each valve station and metering station. By connecting and integrating the new nodes at the different sections of the pipeline with the existing nodes and the control room intersecting the feeding line, operators will be able to control the valves at the various stations, as well as monitor and collect data along the 56Km pipeline.

As for the ISS solution, Jordanian Egyptian FAJR commissioned Giza Systems to integrate a complete security system of integrated intrusion and CCTV systems with the modified SCADA. The integrated ISS is to secure the valve rooms, control rooms, and the pipeline against sabotage, explosions and terrorist activities. The intrusion system utilizes one FFT controller for each 80 kilometers along the pipeline to identify any intrusions.

The FFT CAMS (Central Alarms Monitoring System) signals any intrusion by converting optical fiber disturbances detected to intrusion locations on the map. By connecting the FFT intrusion detection systems and cameras to the security control centers, operators can seamlessly secure operations and assets through a simple interface.

In light of the magnitude of this project and its relevance, the project represents another milestone in the longstanding relationship between FAJR and Giza Systems.

Jordanian Egyptian FAJR Company began operating in December 2003, when the founding partners decided to establish a company for transporting and exporting natural gas. It is currently registered as a limited liability company, pursuant to the Jordanian companies’ law number (22) and its amendments. Jordanian Egyptian FAJR both implements and operates the second phase of the Arab gas pipeline within the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Jordanian-Syrian borders, using the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) scheme for 30 years extendable for 10 more years.

لكل ٨٠ كيلومرت عىل طول الخط لتكشف التسلل.

Abu Rudeis Project for Petrobel Completed by Giza Systems Partnering with Enppi, Giza Systems recently completed PETRECO project for the supply of a prefabricated module system. The project was implemented for the benefit of Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel), affecting Abu Rudeis oil and gas site.

The deployed fire and gas system enables operators to monitor and control gas percentages in the field, providing higher responsiveness and disaster management mechanisms. This ensures personal and equipment safety at the plant, and allows for more efficient resource and asset management.

Since the project launch in June 2017, Giza Systems’ team was dedicated to deploying the latest in fire and gas systems conforming to international safety standards and meeting the standards of TÜV.

Giza Systems handled all engineering, design, testing and procurement services for the project. The scope entailed providing the site with a power module shelter complete with firefighting and fire alarm systems; UPS and batteries; HVAC; MCC and power distribution board; F&G system; mimic panel; computers and console. The team

was able to finish the system integration and FAT, and deliver the complete solution in a challenging timeframe.

To implement this multifaceted project, Giza Systems seamlessly combined teams from several Lines of Business – Process Control, Field Solutions, Transmission and Distribution,Smart Buildings, as well as Giza Systems Electromechanical Company – to deliver the various requirements of the project.

Giza Systems Completes DCS Upgrade for Cairo Oil Refining Company )CORC( Giza Systems recently completed the supply of the Distributed Control System (DCS) for selected distillation plants - U1, U3 and U4 - at the Cairo Oil Refining Company (CORC) in Egypt. The project was initiated in February 2017 at CORC with the sole target of minimizing system failures.

Giza Systems leveraged the proficiency of its technical team to complete the upgrade in a timely manner, while ensuring the highest level of service and the most competitive offer in the market. The team replaced the Yokogawa control system with a Honeywell control system for the distillation plants. The project also involved various services throughout the implementation including engineering, supply, installation and supervision.

The upgraded DCS succeeded to eliminate problematic issues. It supported in increasing the efficiency of the distillation plants by minimizing the shutdown periods, decreasing the problems of the old system, and increasing productivity. It also helped operators avoid repeated issues due to the old system’s performance and facilitated the availability of spare parts for the upcoming years.

Despite the various challenges and tight deadlines faced during the implementation, the Giza Systems team successfully completed the project reinforcing its position as a leading systems integrator in the region.

About CORC

Cairo Oil Refining Company (CORC) is the biggest refinery in Egypt. Its capacity represents 30% of Egypt refining capacity. It has two refineries one in Mostorod, which represents 75% of the total capacity, and another in Tanta. Among CORC’s various products are Propane, unleaded gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel, treated gas oil, fuel oil and solvents.

Giza Systems Lands National Smart Meter Infrastructure Project

Following a fierce competition with leading international information technology companies, Giza Systems landed the rights to execute the National Project for Infrastructure, Applications and Smart Accounting Systems for six distributor companies of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. Giza Systems took part in the tender against Huawei, IBM and Ericsson, winning with the best technical and financial proposal.

"This project is considered one of the biggest undertakings serving the electricity sector, aiming to develop the infrastructure of the national network in Egypt. This will be achieved through the automation of the billing, payment, collection, and control systems as the nucleus of the smart electricity network in the country," commented Mohamed Sedeek, Chief Operations Officer at Giza Systems.

The deployment will enable the control and monitoring of electricity consumption through the application of smart billing techniques. The project is considered core for the modern power grid that supports modern communities and new growing cities.

The project is expected to be completed within a span of six years. Divided into six stages, the project plan is to roll out a total of 12 million smart meters. The first stage of the project involves supporting the national infrastructure by installing 250,000 smart meters.

In the short term, the project will work on improving the process of payment and collection, in addition to enhancing the management of financial resources, reporting, core peak loads, as well as safeguarding against theft and tampering. The solution is designed to reduce expenses related to operations and maintenance, while periodically improving the efficiency of services. With the provision of enhanced management for core peak loads, this solution promises to significantly increase customer satisfaction.

The project will provide long-term benefits, such as optimal application management, renewable energy integration, improved retail offerings, and multi-purpose billing services.

Talaat Moustafa Group )TMG( Selects GSEC to Deploy Firefighting Solutions at the New Administrative Capital Thanks to its established expertise and track record, Giza Systems Electromechanical Company (GSEC) was recently selected as a subcontractor under Alexandria Construction Company (Talaat Moustafa Group) to deploy firefighting systems for the New Administrative Capital Corporation project. The solution will serve ministry buildings located at the government district in the New Capital. The project is planned to be completed within a four month interval starting September 2018.

The project involves firefighting solutions for the Ministries of Petroleum and Electricity buildings: basements B1 and B2. The scope of work covers all services related to engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and handover. The deployment of the new firefighting system promises smart and enhanced protection for both individuals and assets.

GSEC was chosen to implement this national strategic project for its team’s vast experience, high technical quality and engineering capabilities.
