To Do by Sept. 10th for New Students
1. Email Ms. Hoe and Mr. Kedrowski about the following by 8am on September 10th:
• Ideas for your topic o If you could learn about anything, what would it be? o What are you passionate about? o What do you love to do?
• Ideas for your goal
o How will your learning benefit our community (local or global)? o How will your learning benefit you?
After you have sent this very important brainstorm email, we will hash out your project proposal. Woot woot!
Read Me! The Personal Project is an opportunity for you to design your own course. Imagine you are working at a brand new school. This school is open to any and all ideas—you could design a course that is entirely outside, a course that is entirely hands-‐on, a course that tackles any topic you are passionately curious about! For this course, you get to pick all the materials: what you read, what you watch, who teaches you (your mentors), your field trips, and even your final assessment. Your “topic” is what you will learn about. Your “goal” is what you will do with your learning. Your “product/outcome” is what you will be able to show others. Your “criteria” is how you will assess your product/outcome. Your “process journal” is how you will demonstrate your learning process. Remember: The Personal Project is not a chance for you to “make” something. It is a chance for you to “learn” something. You might make something in the process, but your focus is on learning, as if you were designing the raddest course of all time!
