New SwitchesTwo new switches control the Active or Manual Regeneration:
Manual (Active) RegenerationTo start active regeneration (see phase 4) press and hold switch for 3 seconds or more.
Manual DeactivationTo stop or disable any regeneration process (from phase 2 onwards).Note: when illuminated the system is switched off!
Long-haul ApplicationsExperience has shown that the active regeneration process is unlikely to be required, as the passive regeneration automatically keeps the DPF clean.
Distribution ApplicationsFor stop - start distribution applications there is more of a requirement for the active regeneration process (manual operation)due to lack of temperature in the exhaust.

IntroductionMAN Euro 6 Trucks are equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter in the exhaust system, which may require some self-cleaning or regeneration during the normal operation of the vehicle.
Regeneration will occur automatically (passive) or by manual (active) intervention.
If any regeneration is necessary the vehicle’s On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system will inform the driver via a number of new warning lamps on the dashboard.

Warning level 1Driver informed
about necessity of active regeneration
while driving
Driver to confirm message by pressing ‘OK’ on Trip computer
to move to next stage.
By means of adapted operation. If on a Stop-Start cycle the vehicle must be driven at a
continuous speed of more than 50 km/h (30 mph) for up to 60 mins.
Alternatively a static regeneration can be completed as per phase 4.

Warning level 2Driver informed about necessity of stationary
regeneration with increased engine idling speed
Driver to confirm message by pressing ‘OK’ on Trip computer
to move to next stage.
Manual start via switch
5Warning level 3DPF replacement
required by service workshop
