And we are waiting for our next group of students to arrive on campus soon. They will come with so many apprehensions. As we welcome them with open arms, our hope is that we will influence their lives positively, mould their character and prepare them for the life ahead! We are truly a unique campus. I wonder where else in the world can you find pre-school students and postgraduate degree students share one campus. That too a mix of hearing and deaf students. And of course girls and boys. What else do you need to have a vibrant work place? I often listen to the young children who scream in the play area below my of- fice. At other times, a few adult students come into my office to converse in sign language. This newsletter is a small window to our world - a quick slideshow of the events in the last three months. ISSUE 5 APRIL 2012

Dear Friends and well wishers of NISH,

We are coming to the close of another academic year. Another group of stu-dents leave the campus comfort to face the outside world. The pre-school kids go to an integrated school setting. The degree students go out to face the real life outside and to stand shoulder to shoulder with others in the market place. A change of phase in their lives!.I don’t know what all memories they carry with them as they go out from NISH. I certainly hope that we instilled in them lasting values in addition to the knowledge!.

I often listen to the young children who scream in the play area below my of-fice. At other times, a few adult students come into my office to converse in sign language.

This newsletter is a small window to our world - a quick slideshow of the events in the last three months. I congratulate the newsletter team for being prompt again in bringing out the newsletter. They do this work in addition to the regular academic work they need to attend to!. It is true that most of us have extra responsibilities we carry in addition to the regular scheduled work. We are able to do it, because we work as a team!. You can see that in the series of events that happen on campus. From the Vava Suresh snake show to the international photography exhibition, it is all team work.

Thanks team for the great work. Let us keep moving!
