Race to Uganda charity fundraiserSave the Future

Keep an eye out for our energetic fundraising team in their yellow T-shirts. We have already completed around 5000 km of our charity race to Uganda but with 1500 km to go, we need your help. Please dig deep and donate what you can to our teams of students and staff as they run, row and ride their way across nine countries and two continents to the finish line in Central Africa.

“Why Uganda?”, I hear you ask. Well, we are raising money for two fantastic charities. One of which, called PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools), builds schools in Uganda, helping to improve access to education for all young people. Our second charity, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), is an incredibly valuable emergency service considering the fact we are an island and they rea l ly deserve our support.

As if that wasn’t enough, Mr. W h i t e f r o m o u r P. E . department is also competing in an Iron Man triathlon, also raising funds for the RNLI. Good luck from everyone at BGTC.

BGTC  would like to invite all parents and carers to join us in ce lebrat ing the wonder fu l achievements of our students this year. We are going to host an exciting “Oscars Day” to  honour the  excellent academic progress and attitudes of our students and  would like all parents and carers to come along to join us in sharing the great work your children are doing.

A picture-perfect Prom for our Class of 2011 leavers.

Snap!

Last Friday, staff and students from our class of 2011 said their final goodbyes to one another at our annual Prom. It was a fantastic send off for an equally fantastic year group that, fingers crossed, will delivery some of the school’s best ever GCSE results this summer.

The students all looked incredibly smart in their sharp suits, dresses and sarees and really showed why Ms. Olesen, Ms. Healy and the Year 11 team are so proud of them.

Artbeat Enterprise SaleExchange & M-Art

The Artbeat Enterprise Club visited the offices of Allen & Overy last Wednesday to set up a stall and sell products promoting the artwork from the annual Artbeat projects. They sold mugs, bookmarks and badges to staff during a busy lunch time. The mugs had printed images of artwork created by current year 10 students.

The team sold   a staggering £400 worth of products, making a profit of £130 and raising money for the British Red Cross.

Enterprise Club leader Mahmudal Hoque hopes to continue the club's success and develop more art related, business ideas next year.  

Congratulations to all the students involved: Theodore Barbey, Azarah Tahiru, Sadek Miah, Mahmudul Hoque, Elvis Magba.
