Dear Readers of e Nihon Mon and our well wishers, We wish all our readers a wonderful and great year of Happiness and success. At the outset, ABK AOTS DOSOKAI thanks every one of you for your continued support for our e Nihon mon and our activities. We welcome our New Consul General of Japan, Uchiyama Sama to Chennai this year. 2018 was an action packed in various areas. Our Main focus, being Japanese Language teaching, we want to inform that last 12 years our school helped 14,638 students and last year 2583 students (in all our main and Franchise put together) to learn Japanese Language and appear for JLPT from our main school at Aminjikarai, , Thiruvanmiyur, Tambaram, Perungalathur, and from the Western Tamilnadu in Coimbatore, Karur, Salem, & Erode and also from Bangalore. A new franchise had been added in Navallur in the other end of IT Corridor, in OMR. Under the school we had regular Waku Waku club, speech club, Karaoke club activities (a new Club added this year). We organised with the help of Our Japan Foundation Language experts in Chennai, regular teachers’ training workshops on Saturdays.
The following were launched during the Annual Teachers meeting 1. Release of New N5 & N4 Kanji Book 2. Launch of New website for ABK – AOTS
DOSOKAI, Japanese Language School 3. Release of ABK badge for teachers and
staff of main centre and franchise centers 4. Release of ABK flag for use at main centre
and also at franchise centers. This year during the annual 5S convention, we introduced the following 2 awards to the 2 honorable recipients’. Regional Monozukuri award to Mr. S. Seetharaman , Chairman, Super Auto Forge and Grand Monozukuri award for outstanding Business leadership, Dr. Ramachandra N.Galla, Chairman Amara Raja Group.
Last year we handled in all both JLPT + NAT Japanese Language Proficiency Tests put together 8500 Applicants.
We had a number of training programs on 5S Lead Assessors Program, POKA YOKE for achieving Zero defects in Manufacturing, Analytical thinking in Problem solving, Best Kaizen Practices- Case studies, Best shop floor practices for Manufacturing Excellence, Japanese Management techniques. We also conducted Innovative QC Competition, National Quality Circle Competition by our AfQD wing at pune along with Delhi Alumni Association, AOTS Alumni society of Central India, Pune and AOTS Alumni Association of Western India, Mumbai.

Our regular Hiyoshi Talk your way to Japan and other Hiyoshi award activities were held and 4 winners left for Japan. All the award winners were presented by His Excellency Consul General of Japan Uchiyama Sama. METRO COMPUTER SERVICE CO.,LTD. Nagasaki and ABK- AOTS DOSOKAI agreed to sign a MOU for Technical and Japanese Language training for recruiting Indian IT engineering Graduates from employment in Japan. We are very happy to inform that our Tambaram Franchise student G.R. Adhavh kun won the Second Prize for his short film written and also voice by him in Japanese Language in the Japanese Language Short Film Contest in South Asia 2018. We had a Photo Exhibition on Japan related themes from 13th to 15th December 2018 and about 400 photos from 3 of our members M.R.Ranganthan, Mahendra Varman and Natarjan Dhakshinamurthy were displayed in the exhibition. This year two of our member faculty went to Dhaka under the WNF support inter Alumni Training Program. M.R.Ranganathan on Solving Human and Organizational Problem and Mr. B.Palaniaappan on TQM. We also organized a One day Sakura Network Symposium on “The need of the hour Japanese education in India: under Japan Foundation support by inviting the other 4 institutions in India under the same Sakura Network Program. This year we organized two Cultural week Programs , along with the kind cooperation of Consulate General of Japan- Chennai Alumni Association of College of Engineering Guindy (AACEG) and sponsors Hiyoshi
Corporation and Japan India Skill Development Academy (JISD). Which had an exhibition on Japanese Art forms like Ikebana, Origami, Doll exhibition, Bonsai , and Tendo no tesukuri, Mini Marathon in the CEG campus and friendly football matches between Chennai Foot ball club team and Chennai Football Club of Japanese Association and India Japan Music Festa the high light of which was 2017 Japanese songs by NODOJIMAN - all world I prize winner of NHK singing competition for Non Japanese Ms. Neerajakshi Sunder Rajan and her teammates Ms Sindhuja Sunderrajan and Ms Megha Bhargavi who also participated in Nodojiman and came up to Semifinals, . This year we bid fare well to SAKAI sensei and Welcomed Masaki Sensei. This year we participated in the National level Federation of AOTS Alumni FAAAI AGM at GOA and also the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh AOTS Alumni Society (BAAS). We are now preparing for another year of Contribution to India Japan Collaboration and relationship and to serve the society. We request your support and Cooperation. Coffee Meet
Waku Waku Club utilizes the opportunity by arranging an interaction with the Japanese women along with a cup of coffee twice a month. Each of these coffee meets will be for 2 hours and topic of discussion will be anything of interest to both the sides.

Japan Education Fair on ―Higher Education & Research

As part of Japan Cultural & Sports Festival, “MINI-MARATHON” was conducted to commemorate the forthcoming “Olympics and Paralympics TOKYO 2020” to be held in Japan. His Excellency Mr. Kojiro Uchiyama, Consul-General of Japan in Chennai and Mr. K. Ravikumar, President, Alumni Association College of Engineering, Guindy (AACEG) flagged off the Mini-Marathon run at 6.30am on Saturday, 27th October 2018 at College of Engineering (Anna University, Guindy), Chennai. The Japan-India Music Festa in connection with the
Japan Cultural week celebrations of ABK AOTS DOSOKAI, Consulate General of Japan Chennai and AACEG was held at RR Sabha Mylapore on 29 October 2018. The program started with a Key board melodies by Mr. MV. Roopchandar, Vice President of AACEG followed by a brisk and beautiful Bharatha Natyam by Ms Masami Nagatoshi . This was then followed by 2017 NODOJIMAN - all world I prize winner of NHK singing competition for Non Japanese in singing Japanese Songs, Ms Neerajakshi Sunder Rajan and her team who also participated in Nodojiman and came up to Semifinals, Ms Sindhuja Sunderrajan and Ms Megha Bhargavi. The Annual Japanese Language Teachers Meeting was held on 9
th December 2018 from 2.00pm at our
centre. The school updates were provided by Mrs. Anuradha , Director , Japanese Language School followed by updates on Waku Waku Club activity by Ms. Geetha Thygarajan and updates on Coffee Meet activity by Ms. G. Vasantha. Also updates about the available teaching material were provided by Ms. Geetha Thygarajan.
Interpretation and translation service updates were given by Mrs. Nirmala Bhaskar. Franchise updates were by provided by Mrs. Shanmugapriya of Coimbatore Chapter, Mrs. Vaishnavi Kumar of Thiruvanmiyur Chapter, Mrs. Uma Ramasubramanian of Bangalore Chapter and Mrs. Gayathri Jayaraman of Tambaram Chapter. Our Chairman Mr. M. R. Ranganathan gave a special address and clarified doubts raised by our teachers. Native Japanese volunteers who helped us throughout the year were honoured during the meeting. December 2018 at 10.00am at the above venue. 400 Photographs from 3 Major Contributors Mr. M .R. Ranganathan, Mr. V. Mahendravaraman and Mr. D. Natrajan on themes like Sakura viewing, Bridges, Major cities like Tokyo, Osaka , Kyoto, People, Religious Festivals, Mount Fuji, Trains and Shinkansen, Hiroshima nd Nagasaki Peace memorials etc were exhibited.
