Measurement is the act or process of measuring size, weight or capacity of something.

Grade –II students conducted an activity in school premises. Students were involved in learning

the non standard way. They were eager to know that in ancient period people used their body

parts as measuring tools. Where as at present we use various machines and methods for

measurements. Children keenly learnt about cubit, handspan, footspan and pace using their

limbs Standard unit of measuring was observed and practically learnt by involving themselves

in measuring their height, weight measuring the corridor length using measuring weights of

different sizes. At the end of this activity students were thrilled to learn the short forms used for

measurement and were happy to use their ruler for measuring classroom objects.

FLY FLY INTO THE SKY

“Always soar high just like the colourful kites in the sky”

As we are getting more urbanized, our children are missing

out many rituals and their importance. Celebrating festivals

in school bring the awareness and build cultural belief

among them. Makara Sankranthi is the best way to bring joy

amongst the children and make school a place which they

do not want to leave. The reason for festival celebration in

school is to create the spirit of our culture among the

children. In this context the students of Grade I and II got an

opportunity to indulge themselves in kite making activity

where they had a chance to enrich their creativity by making

colourful kites.
