Message from CEOAssalamu Alaikum Warahmatu-Allahi Wabarakaatuh

Congratulations to our Unity Gram-mar community.

Our online learning program has been a real success and we contin-ue to make further improvements to ensure our students have as close as possible the same experience they receive at school. This includes deliv-ering Ramadan messages and wellbe-ing activities.

I have personally been contacted by Principals from other schools to find out how we are operating, as they had heard from their own community that Unity Grammar is leading the way in online learning.

Whatever decisions are made by the Government over the next couple of weeks Unity Grammar is prepared to continue to run business as usual. We have financially invested in improved technology to ensure we can continue to deliver a quality online education.

Our staff have certainly been work-ing long hours preparing outside of school hours to ensure our students have planned lessons every day. Pre-paring for an extended online learn-ing program requires a lot of extra planning from our staff and they have embraced online learning effectively. Thank you to our parents and stu-dents for completing the survey on how our online learning program has been performing. The feedback and positivity shown through your com-ments has been overwhelming.

The strong relationship parents and teachers have developed during these challenging times will undoubtedly prove to be beneficial when our students return to school. We are very proud of our student efforts and are pleased they have continued their commitment right through to the end of term.

Family continues to be the key focus throughout this period and everyone’s faith will need to remain strong through-out these unprecedented times. Rama-dan begins later in the holiday period. To everyone in our community, Rama-dan Mubarak.

Lastly, a massive thank you to all our Unity Grammar community for your on-going support. I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break with family and as soon as the Government deem it safe, we absolutely will be welcoming our students back to school with open arms.

Message fromJunior School

Asalaamu Alaikum Wa rahmatu Allahi Wa Barakaatuhu,

This year, the PDHPE department have busy organising an exciting Scope and Sequence that focuses on a variety of Fundamental Movement Skills. As we welcome our youngest talent to the school, kindergarten have spent their first term being in-troduced to physical activity and athletics. In particular, the pupils fo-cused predominantly on balance, sprint run and vertical jumps. Stage 1 are focusing on getting their body moving while stage 2 are concentrat-ing on developing their cricket skills. Finally, our year 5 and 6 students will be increasing their passing, dodg-ing and fending skills to cater for the game of Oz tag.

Teaching andLearningDear Parents,

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatualla-hi wa barakatu

Our transition to Online Learning

We are incredibly proud of the Junior School’s smooth transition

from teaching on campus to online learning. We knew it would come with some challenges, but we were not willing to compromise on our values of what we believe quality learning should be. Instead, we pulled together a team of over 35 teaching professionals from within the school, and we reached out to our external professional network. Together, we collaborated and used our combined educational expertise to create a high-quality online learning program for our students.

When we created the structure, we had the following in mind.

1. We will continue to educate the WHOLE child. This includes sup-porting and nurturing their spiritual growth, social and emotional well-being, and physical and cognitive development.

2. We will strive for consistency and continuity. Our online learn-ing structure will follow a typical day of learning and include all Key

Learning Areas as well as having a daily Islamic, Arabic and wellbeing focus.

3. We will continue to value the LEARNING over the WORK. Qual-ity learning activities are carefully sequenced and scaffolded to pro-mote academic growth and high levels of student engagement. There will be no “busy work” or activities that add no value to the learning.

I would like to acknowledge our wonderful parent body who have played an integral part in this smooth transition. Your support, feedback and suggestions are val-ued and taken into consideration when we evaluate and improve our processes. We look forward to delivering our next phase of online learning in the following weeks in-shaaAllah.

Kind Regards,

Marwa LazkaniK-6 Teaching and LearningCoordinator

As we reflect on an exciting term 1 at Unity Grammar, there were many highlights. Throughout the term, we ran our annual Athletics Carnival and Swimming Carnival in which we had high attendance and produced fan-tastic results with both events. We also ran after school sports and be-gan to create our first Unity Grammar soccer and cricket team which we hope to start in term 2.

Throughout online learning we have been in contact with our lovely stu-dents through Class Dojo where stu-dents have been challenging them-selves at home to keep physically fit and active.

PBUH said that ‘there is nothing bad for a believer. If bad comes their way and they say alhummdullah then that is good for them and if good comes their way and say alhumdullalh then that is good for them as well’

We know that is no exact replace-ment for the face to face interaction

Message from Senior Schoolin a classroom setting between the teacher and student. We also know that the implementation of the our online learning platform on TEAMS is an effective alternative platform. Our staff are online period by period en-gaging in meaningful and interactive learning experiences with the student.

I want to thank all the parents who completed the survey regarding on-line learning. Your feedback has been very positive and that is important for us. We will continue to iron out and improve the online platform so that it is even better in the future.

We are planning to incorporate on-line wellbeing initiatives and activi-ties as of Term 2. Student wellbeing for UG is one of the key areas and we

want to ensure this is addressed via the online platform.

My advice to all parents is to enjoy the holidays. Allow for your children to have some leisure activities and a balanced lifestyle whilst keeping in mind social distancing requirements.

I would like ask Allah SWT to protect us, our families and friends during this challenging period. Please main-tain the social distancing, hygiene and movements measures set by the Government.

We hope that we can return very soon to normality and ask Allah SWT to bless our lives.
