‘A Tribute to Jaydon’

by Ebony Bailey (10LSH)

A loss of a friend; this needs to end.

Too much knife crime; it’s never the time.

Teenagers have died

whilst parents have cried.

If only he had stayed at home that night,

he wouldn’t have lost his fight.

He was still a young boy

yet his life got destroyed.

Siblings have lost their brother.

The feeling is like no other.

The world is missing a young man –

why can’t knives just be banned?

Was it out of boredom?

Or perhaps for revenge…

either way - his life didn’t have to end.

One little stabbing could take a life.

But this fight isn’t over; it still goes on.

The world twisted, everything wrong.

Ten more seconds with you:

five for a hug; five for a talk.

I hope we’re making you proud.

You’re one big cloud.

We will all love and miss you forever.

Rest in peace… sleep tight tonight.

I wrote this poem in memory of Jaydon Washington

James who was stabbed on 25th November 2018. He has

many family and friends who are

distraught following his death. My heart

goes out to his family who have lost a son,

brother, uncle and more.

Plas Dol y Moch - Thursday 27 June to Monday 1 July 2019

This summer we have secured 30 places for a 4 day residential trip to Coventry's Dol y Moch Outward Bound

Education Centre in North Wales. Of the 30 places secured, 20 have been allocated to students so far. We are

now opening the remaining 10 places to any year group (excluding Years 11 or 13 due to exams). This is a

fantastic opportunity to experience the outdoors and provides the students with a real challenge in Coventry's

own facility in the heart of Snowdonia.

If you would like your son/daughter to experience this trip please complete the reply slip attached to the letter which is available via the

following link https://tinyurl.com/y3lwffah on the school’s website or from student reception. Should you require any further information,

email me on [email protected]

Please move quickly to secure a place.

“Preparing for

University” Day

On Wednesday 27 March, 13

Year 10 students attended a

“Preparing for University” day at

the University of Warwick.

Working with student ambassadors from the university, students took

part in workshops on study skills and transferrable skills. The students

also conducted research into funding, finance and student life and

received a tour of the campus.

The students were exemplary ambassadors for Cardinal Newman and

enjoyed the opportunity to same student life in a university setting.
