EUGC WINTER CUP RULESThe Winter Cup comprises five fixtures played from November through to March. These are neither counting nor qualifying, meaning that handicaps are not adjusted.Members play in three categories and prizes are awarded for the aggregate of the three best scores. The number of prizes is dependent upon the number of players in each category. In the event of a tie, the player with the lower handicap is considered the winner. Wintercup calendar.

Inside News for EUGC Players

PRIX DU CLUB- 20/10/2019 The weather Gods were not present on October 20, but the course was playable despite the heavy rain of the last days. In total 14 teams of 3 players competed in a scramble competition. Quite a performance for those who played the 18 holes.

This year’s winners are Casper Vercruysse, Marc Vleugels and Filip Vercruysse. They played a round of 1 over par, resulting in a score of 48. Congratulations to the team and the winners of the nearest to the pin. Runners up are Emilio Rodriguez Castro, Marie Tilburck and Isabelle Demuynck.

ALSACE GOLFING WEEKEND Traditionally, the EUGC organises two golfing weekends per year. This autumn, the club went to the Alsatian region and we played the Wantzenau and the Kempferhof course. The weather forecast did not trigger any enthusiasm, but in the end we got home more or less dry. On Saturday the 12-persons-team had dinner in the Wantzenau restaurant called “La Vignette” and winners and losers forgot about their scores. Needless to underline that this sentiment was not drinks related. The team concluded that the Kempferhof course favoured better players, as higher handicap male players need a carry of at least

160 meters from the yellow tees on several holes to clear the hazards. The winners of the golfing weekend were: : 1/ Jos Daelemans with a total of 57 points; 2/ Anne-Sofie Hansen with a total of 54 points and 3/ Susanne Klausen with a total of 48 points. CORA CUP WIMEREUX 2020During the first weekend of April (3-5/04/2020), the CORA cup will be played in France. Each year the EUGC enters a team of eight golfers selected by the Captain comprising usually the members of the Club Committee, the winner(s) of the Asterix competition in first category, and/or the Club champions. These players will be contacted by the Committee in due time.

Pierpont, Avernas, Damme and Ostend. What was your impression and which has been your favourite course so far ?All competitions are well organised, and there is a very good atmosphere amongst the members. My favorite course, for the moment, is Damme (where I scored 43 points this year).What’s your goal (Hcp) for this season ?I reached my goal for this season, but for next year I’d like to obtain a handicap below 30.What was your favourite moment, playing with the EUGC ?Without a doubt the victory obtained with my friend Philippe Joly at the 4BBB competition in Ostend on September 8. What’s your motto on the course ?I am capable of the best and the worst, but in the worst I am the best.

EUROVISION GOLF IN BELGIUMOn 10-12 July 2020, Brabantse will host the 30th edition of the annual VLANED (Vlaanderen-Nederland) tournament. Traditionally, this has been a competition solely between ca. 400 Flemish and Dutch players. However, next year the organisers wish to broaden their reach and this is how it works:If you are from Bulgaria, Denmark, Austria, Poland, or another less well-known golfing destination in Europe, you contact a favourite golf club in your country of origin to ask if they would like to sponsor a green fee and/or an overnight stay in their hotel (if the course has a hotel).In return, the golf club would be promoted on the VLANED website as well as during the competition. If you secure a green fee and/or hotel stay, this would then be offered as a prize and you would be eligible to play in the tournament, gratis.If you have any questions, contact us via info@eu-golfclub.eu.
