ILLAWARRA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL TONGARRA newsletter A message from Dr Bertram Welcome back to Term 3. It is hard to believe we are half way through 2016, but when I look back on all that we have done this year, we should not feel worried that time seems to be racing away. Every day has been well spent, in the pursuit of learning about God and understanding His plan for our salvation. Every day has been well spent learning how to be beer equipped for serving Him in this world. In staff devotions this week, we started on the second leer to Timothy. In the opening verses, Paul gives thanks for Timothy’s mother and grandmother. These women shared their faith and God’s teaching with Timothy from childhood. They laid down the foundations on which Paul discipled Timothy. You are doing the same for your children, and every day we remind them of the deep commitment you have to the nurture their faith and futures: Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. Proverbs 1:8-9 Our school exists because of our parents’ desire to raise their children in the knowledge of God. This gives us constant reason to be thankful and commied to fulfilling this ministry on your behalf. This week, we have special cause to reflect and give thanks. At our Friday assembly, we will be celebrating our establishment on this site over 20 years ago. In 1995, the ICS board was blessed with the unexpected opportunity of purchasing 234 Calderwood Road as the permanent location for the Tongarra Campus. In 1996, the campus started the New Year with all the students onsite and plans for new buildings underway. By 1998, we were opening new buildings and celebrating a growing campus. We hope you can join us on Friday morning at 8:50 am in the hall.
