Dear Families,
Regional Principal Conference
Next Monday and Tuesday I will be attending the
annual Regional Principal Conference in Melbourne.
This is always a valuable experience with many great
speakers. It is also a valuable time for me to network
with colleagues and talk about what is going on in
other schools.
Division Cross Country
Congratulations to the 6 students who represented
the Cluster at the Upper Hume Division Cross
Country last Friday in Wodonga. Well done to Rosie
and Alec who both won their age group race and will
race again at the Regional competition later this
term.
Chickens
We are looking for some families to help feed the
chickens on the weekends. They are very friendly. If
you are able to assist please speak with Sarah or
Kim.
Storytime in the Kinder
Yesterday we had our first successful monthly
Storytime in the Kinder with guest reader Alex Craig.
We had 9 visiting children who joined with our
kinder students and P/1 class in a special reading of
The Magic Hat by Mem Fox.
Ski Program
Yr 3-6 students have been sent home
information regarding our ski program. We are
very lucky to have the support of parents and
staff who see the value in running our
comprehensive ski program for 6 days. Please
keep the forms in a safe place and if payment
causes any issue we are more than happy to
set up a payment plan to support families.
We welcome Dederang PS to our program this
year and look forward to the opportunities that
this gives to students through increased social
interactions.
National Science Week Grant
We have been successful in gaining a $500
grant to support a family event in Term 3. The
title of our grant was, ‘Making pancakes using
pedal power’.
School Photos
Our photographers did a great job today
getting our school photos complete without
too much interruption. They will be
endeavouring to get photos returned to
families at the beginning of term 3.

Congratulations to Sara who
has earnt the Mathlete of the
Week trophy for another
week with 1610 points.

Staff completed their CPR annual update last night with staff
from neighbouring schools.
It is a reminder to families to teach your children about what to
do if there was an emergency at home. Many of our younger
students we found last week through discussions were not able
to clearly explain where they lived nor did they know what to
do if they needed to get help.
It is important to practice this at home by role playing scenarios
including how to use the phone to dial 000.
Home Reading
Congratulations to Eddy who has won
the book draw for home reading at last
Fridays assembly. Students get a ticket
for every week they get their home
reading diary signed by an adult for at
least 5 out of 7 nights during the week.

Upper Kiewa Valley Regional Arts
Media Release regarding Evergreen Ensemble
Upper Kiewa Valley Regional Arts is bringing the Evergreen En-semble from the Melbourne Recital Centre to perform in the Mount Beauty Community Centre on Friday 1st June at 7:30 p.m. They will perform a program called "High Heels and Ghillies" which consists of dance music from 18th Century Scotland and France. Beautiful instrumental and vocal works from the French Baroque period, Breton circle dances, Highland airs, and Scottish baroque jigs and reels, with special guest Myriam Arbouz, French soprano.
Dance in 18thC Scotland was strongly influenced not only by its own traditional dance repertoire, but by the French court. Danc-es such as the Sarabande, Corrente and Minuet were coupled with Scottish jigs and reels to form sonatas or suites. In France itself, a huge diversity of dance styles could be found between the balletic fashions of the royal courts of Louis XIV and the pop-ular dances of the country villages. Evergreen Ensemble, with violins, cello, and the glorious voice of Myriam Arbouz, invite you to follow the intricate steps of these marvellous dance tunes as they wind their way down from the Highlands to Edinburgh and Versailles, Brittany, and the Centre of France.
Enjoy this unique musical experience at the Mount Beauty Com-munity Centre on Friday the first of June at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available from the mount Beauty Newsagency or at the door. Adult $25, Member $20, $10 student, 12 years and under free.
