!!! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED !!!
U15s GIRLS SOCCER Casino High’s under 15s girls soccer team
travelled to Alstonville this week to take on
Alstonville High in Round 3 of the Bill Turner
Trophy. The girls were uncertain before the
game whether they could defeat Alstonville but
they started off the game strongly, dominating
the first quarter of the game. The girls were
rewarded for their efforts when seven minutes
into the game Effie Walker scored. This was
followed five minutes later by a Tiarna Lynch
goal scored off a nice cross from Daisy Gordon.
The girls dropped a little in intensity and a
kicking error from our girls was stamped on by
Alstonville and they scored a goal 22 minutes
into the game. Our girls led 2-1 going into half
time. Alstonville came out firing in the second
half and dominated play throughout, but our
girls were up to the challenge and defended
well to hold them out. The pivotal moment of
the game came with 30 seconds left in the game
and Alstonville were awarded a penalty kick.
Fortunately for us the kick was not taken too
well and goalkeeper Nicole Green made the
most important save of the game to cement our
victory over Alstonville. The girls were very
excited at the end of the game to win and as
coach I am very proud of what they have
achieved so far. We have not beaten Alstonville
High in many, many years and it’s been quite
some time since we have made it past Round 3
of this annual competition. Congratulations
girls and best of luck for the next round.
