TRAINING PROGRAMME ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Training and Placement Cell, Periyar E.V.R. College, Tiruchirappalli organised a
National Human Rights Commission sponsored one day basic training programme on Human
Rights was held on 31.08.2016 in association with District Legal Service Authority,
Tiruchirappalli.
Dr.C.PARAMASIVAN, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Commerce and Coordinator,
Training and Placement Cell, welcomes the principal, chief guest, resource persons, staff
members and participants. He highlights the importance of the training programme, programme
structure, and support of the National Human Rights Commission for their continuous assistance
to organise the programme. More than 20 staff members from various departments were
participated in the inaugural function.
Dr.J.MANJULA, Ph.D. Principal, Periyar E.V.R. College, Tiruchirappalli, presided over
the presidential address in the inaugural function of the training programme. She advised the
students to utilize these kind of programmes which will helps to protect our Human Rights in
future. She highlights the Training and Placement Cell and National Human Rights Commission
jointly organinsing this programme in the college for fourth year continuously. She instructed the
students to utilize these kind of training programmes to enrich the knowledge on human rights
and the present issues around the world.
Chief guest Dr.N.MURUGESWARI, Ph.D, Professor, Department of Women Studies,
Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli spoke on Introduction about Human Rights with
respects to legal and constitutional aspects. She mentioned bundle of examples from ancient
history, religion stories and contemporary issues. She made live examples of human rights issues
in day to day practices and highlights the role students’ communities to protect the human rights.
Mr.S.MURUGESAN, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Tiruchirappalli,
spokes on Issues of Human Rights, with the examples of judicial perspectives, he interacts with
the students to addressing various issues of Human Rights. He addressed the constitutional setup
of the human rights institutions in India, particularly he explained about the role and functions of
National human rights commission, state Human rights commission, national legal service
authority state legal service authority and district legal service authority
Mr.P.JOHN BRITO, B.Sc., B.L., Advocate, Tiruchirappalli, spokes on Rights of
vulnerable groups. In his speech, he pointed out the various issues and cases regarding
vulnerable groups such as dalits, women, transgender, marginalised people and minorities. He
cited some of the popular issues and judgments regarding vulnerable groups in India as well as in
Tamil Nadu. Students were interacted and raised many questions about the human rights issues
and institutional assistance.
Mrs.HASINA BEGAM, B.A., B.L. Advocate, Tiruchirappalli delivered a lecture on
Rights of Women and Children. She mentioned about the current status of women and children
in the society, how they were treated in the earlier periods particularly in literature,
administration, and family. She also addressed the participants to remove the gender inequalities
from the society by the way of creating awareness. She also motivated to participants and
interacts the students in and around the districts.
Dr.C.PARAMASIVAN, Coordinator, Training and Placement Cell, Organized this
programme. More than 147 students from various departments took part of this programme and
participated actively.
Mr. SIVAJI MANI, II M.Sc Mathematics gave a note of thanks on the occasion, he
thanks to National Human Rights Commission, District Legal Service Authority, Periyar E.V.R.
college, Training and Placement cell and all the participants more than 147 students from various
department such as physics, chemistry, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Commerce,
History, Tamil, English were participated. Free course materials training file and certificate were
distributed to all the participants.
The programme was successfully completed with national anthem at 5.30 p.m
