ICE AGE CENTRESAADJÄRVE 20, ÄKSI, TARTUMAA. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

Do animals use patterns, and how? The Ice Age Centre features interesting animals, insects and fish, all of them distinctive namely for their patterns. Visitors can learn many new things by participating in our museum game.

Patterns of the lake in the night! Lake Saadjärv is known for its clean water. If the weather is nice and calm, visitors can take the Ice Age Centre raft to the lake to examine the exciting patterns of the lake bottom and study the patterns of waves. Participation in a raft tour to Lake Saadjärv should be booked in advance: [email protected]. The raft departs at every full hour and half-hour (18.00-22.00), and takes on 20 people at a time. Participation fee: 2 euros.

ONE-NIGHT EXHIBITION “ÄKSI MUST REID”SAADJÄRVE 22, ÄKSI, TARTUMAA. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

Follow the trail of black box art from room to room. What is black box art? It is literally art within a black box — put your hands in the box and the artwork appears in your mind’s eye. There are five other trails: life pattern trail, scarf trail, nature trail, GPS-art trail and Äksi black trail. The life pattern trail features contributions from the people of Äksi. Visitors can also participate in an interactive game and workshop on making patterns out of the stones of Lake Saadjärv.

Patterns of fish, mollusca and algae in the night. Visitors can attend the photo exhibition “Kaladest inspireeritud” (“Inspired by Fish”), study the lake algae of Estonia and their spectacular patterns under a microscope or use a digital magnifying glass to examine the shells of freshwater snails and bivalves. Children can take part in a workshop on colouring patterns and felting fish. Estonian Voluntary Sea and

Lake Rescue Association is conducting a rescue training. Rafting on Lake Võrtsjärv (for a fee).

Juhan Liiv Museum features acoustic patterns by excellent musicians and takes the visitors on a quest to capture the patterns of a spring evening in the Peipsi region (by drawing, taking photos, composing poetry!). If the weather is nice, then the concert will take place outdoors, where we get to make a bonfire and gaze into the wonderful May night!

18.30–22 The Joy of Handcraft – visitors can participate in creative workshops of the museum

19–20 Exciting quiz „Universumi muster“ (“Pattern of the Universe”)

17–20 Honey Market in Ülenurme – beekeepers introduce and sell various honey products. Product presentations at every full hour (in Estonian).
