ANDREW DINNER Are you a young man interested in learning more about the Catholic priesthood and what is involved in becoming a Catholic priest? Then join us for dinner and discussion this Sunday, August 11 at 5:00pm in St. Raphael church. Bishop Alberto Rojas, Fr. Tim Monahan (Chicago Voca on Director), three seminarians and I will host the gathering. There will be an opening prayer, then supper downstairs in the Fellowship Hall, followed by our three seminarians sharing a bit of their stories of hearing God's call. So far we have several high school and college students joining us from different parishes in Lake County.

Walk-ins are welcome if you did not get a chance to register in advance. If there are high school students interested, please have one of your parents come with you and the parent can register you on site. The evening should conclude by about 6:30 or so. Any ques ons, please contact me. Or if you'd like to be invited to the next Andrew Dinner, please let me know at your convenience. THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY August 15 is the Solemnity of the Assump on of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obliga on. Mass will be offered on Thursday at 7:00am, 8:30am, Noon and 7:00pm (choir & organ). God, in a singular way, gave the Blessed Mother the joy of being raised to heaven, both body and soul, at the end of her life on earth. If you are looking for a sign of hope in your life, come and celebrate our hope of sharing in Christ's Risen Life, a life that His mother now enjoys forever. IMPROVEMENTS Many people commented favorably last week about the new concrete ramp at the south side of the church, the resealed church front porch and the improvement in the landscaping on the north side of the church. All of this is being funded by your generous dona ons to our building fund. Next steps include a railing and improvements to the landscape around the new south ramp. Resealing the parking lot and striping it are also in the works. We have a number of improvements we hope to have in place before the end of October. Thank you for suppor ng St. Raphael. WHERE DID SAINT THERESE GO? In case you were wondering what happened to the 18 foot tall window of St. Therese that was in the north wall of the church, the ar st who is crea ng the next three windows needed to remove St. Therese in order to trace the pa erns that will appear in the three remaining windows. When St. Therese is reinstalled, she will be closest to the east wall of the church. Our next window will be ready for installa on in September. In our Lord, Father Mike McGovern [email protected]
