WELCOME

PRELUDE Sleepers Wake, A Voice is Calling Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847)

ENTRY INTO WORSHIP Life is a journey with others; we travel as a people, on a winding road. We share our lives, our experiences, our hopes, our fears. So as we gather virtually, let us celebrate the richness and diversity of life. INVOCATION

In the stillness of the morning, in the calm of the night, in the hush and the pulse of all that surrounds us, we call on you, O God. We call on you knowing that you have already met us here. We call on you believing that you have already brought to where you need us to go. We call on you knowing that you will carry us, we who carry so much. And so we take this moment to pause and to praise you; leaning back into your open arms, inclining our ears to hear your voice as it moves amongst us, opening our eyes to behold the grace in our surroundings. Amen.

PRAYER OF RECONCILIATION

God of our going out and our coming in, we spend too much time in worry. We dwindle away our time concerned about what others will think of us. We place our full attention on unrealistic expectations of ourselves and others. You continue to remind us that we are not perfect and that you love us for who we are. Yet, we’re not ready to embrace that message. Today, let this be the start of a new way of thinking. Let us work hard and be diligent in our work, but allow us to embrace grace when we make mistakes. May we shower others with the grace they need after making errors. And let us live sharing extravagant mercy as Jesus did. Amen.

ASSURACE OF GRACE We make mistakes. We sin. We aren’t close to being perfect. And yet, God loves us as we are – flaws and all. Let us accept the grace God shares with us and make sure that all of God’s children experience that mercy as well. Amen.

ANTHEM God of Mercy, God of Grace Jerry F. Davidson Chancel Choir

God of Mercy, God of grace, Show the brightness of Thy Face; Shine upon us, Savior, shine, Fill Thy Church with light divine, And Thy saving health extend, Unto earth's remotest end.

Let thy people praise Thee, Lord, Be by all that live adored; Let the nations shout and sing Glory to their Savior King; Let all be below, above, One in joy and light, and love.

One in joy, and light, and love.

SCRIPTURE Matthew 10:34-39 & Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

SERMON Who are we making happy? PRAYER FOR FATHERS’ AND FATHER’S DAY PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

REFLECTION ON GIVING

God of all that is, we ponder ways of how we can give back to you. Through time, talent, and treasures, we can build your kingdom and nurture your people. We take these moments to give of ourselves to you and reflect on how our time, talent, and treasures can best be used for this community.

And with gratitude, we pray together:

Gracious God, filled by your generosity to us, may we be generous to others. Accept from us these gifts of word and money as we commit our lives to you. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Leave this time embracing that you are not perfect, nor will you ever be. But each of you is awesome, just as you are. Leave this time making sure each person you come across experiences the Divine’s unconditional love and acceptance. Lift up each other on this beautifully messy journey. And may you experience the grace of God, the mercy of Christ and the second wind of the Holy Spirit to help you stand after you stumble. Amen. POSTLUDE The Trophy François Couperin (1668-1733)

Greetings! It is unfortunate that I have to bring this sad news regarding the beloved St. Paul Window in Heritage Hall. Sometime the week of May 12th, something hit the main window, just below his feet and broke 4 different colored areas. This looks to be an accident and not vandalism. One of the areas contained the names of various former church members, but thankfully we were able to retrieve a picture of the names before the break and they will be restored to the new pane. Pat Kinney has put protection up to make sure that the weather doesn't harm the inside. We asked Art Glass Unlimited from St. Louis, to come to take a look at the break, as they are the firm that has cleaned and helped restore the windows before. His estimate is around $1,860 to repair those 4 areas, and to match the writing as closely as possible. The funds for the renovation are running very thin at this point as we are down to the very end. Dave Hoffman has budgeted very well, but never expected this. We are not going to claim it on our insurance due to our high deductible. So, if any one would like to contribute any funds to help offset the cost, it would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Laura Strohm Armstrong Property Team Leader
