The fastest response system for oil containment in harbours, inlets, sounds and fjords! The speed of the first response very often determines whether the oil spill remains a minor incident, or whether it develops into a more costly spill. The NOFI BoomBag is specially designed for fast response with minimal requirements for boats and personnel. The boom is packed in a zig-zag pattern inside the NOFI BoomBag. It is a standard NOFI EP series solid flotation boom, renowned in the market for reliability, ease of handling and ability to contain the oil. The NOFI BoomBag may be stored on the quayside for immediate deployment or stored in a warehouse for forklift transport to the quay. In both cases the time required to mobilise the boom for towing is extremely short. Mobilisation and tow- ing out requires 2 persons, and virtually any available boat can be used. After the NOFI BoomBag has been pulled into the sea, the bag adds marginal resistance to the tow. The speed may be increased to 15 knots and a consider- able distance can be covered within short time. The boom is deployed from the bag by simply dropping a sea anchor (drogue) connected to a release line that frees the boom at the end of the bag. NOFI BOOMBAG ® H300 - G - 520f NOFI Tromsø AS, P.O.

Mobilisation and tow-ing out requires 2 persons, and virtually any available boat can be used.

After the NOFI BoomBag has been pulled into the sea, the bag adds marginal resistance to the tow. The speed may be increased to 15 knots and a consider-able distance can be covered within short time. The boom is deployed from the bag by simply dropping a sea anchor (drogue) connected to a release line that frees the boom at the end of the bag.

nofi boombag in useThe NOFI BoomBag is made of reinforced fabric. The entire system is packed ready for use on a glass fibre pallet. Transport on land by forklift or crane. Mobilisa-tion time at the dockside is maximum 5 minutes from deployment of the NOFI BoomBag until the system is ready for towing.

For towing the bag nearly any available boat can be used. However, if a boat with outboard engine is used it should be min. 14 ft. and 50 HP. Irrespective of type of boat, a crew of only two is required.

Towing range is more than 50 nautical miles. At the maximum cruising speed of 15 knots, the oil boom deployment time is less than 60 seconds. The towing speed is normally around 70 % of maximum speed for the boat.

Storage and operating temperature spans from -25 °C to +70 °C (-13 °F to 158 °F). Repacking time is 30 - 90 minutes (after the boom has been retrieved to the dock).

an increasing number of users, both domestic and international, have chosen to place the boombag on a trailer. The boombag is transported by road - and deployed directly into the sea from the trailer.
