The Playford Alive Local Heroes Awards recognise community and business achievements in the Playford Alive project area. The Awards are open to individuals, groups and organisations to acknowledge their commitment to the successful development of Playford Alive through community, training and employment initiatives. The Playford Alive Local Heroes Awards are brought to you by the Playford Alive project partners – Renewal SA, The City of Playford and SA Housing Authority along with our award sponsors.

Award CategoriesPLAYFORD COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD This award is sponsored by Lighthouse Disability.

Celebrates the positive contribution and impact of a community group or individual (26+ years) across Playford Alive. The individual or group will not only set an inspiring example for others but also proudly promote and enhance the Playford Alive community whether it’s out and about, in the media or in their own quiet but valuable way. Individual or community group award.

POSITIVE PLAYFORD AWARD – YOUTH This award is sponsored by Boral.

Recognises the efforts of a younger local resident between 12 and 25 years old or a group whose pride, hard work and generosity has had a positive impact on one or more aspects of the Playford Alive community. Individual or group award.

BUSINESS AWARD This award is sponsored by Rivergum Homes.

Acknowledges the outstanding efforts of a local contractor or business, and their commitment to developing and promoting the northern suburbs and Playford Alive; through their innovation – particularly during these uncertain times, quality of service or contribution and support to the life of the community. Business award.

BEST VOCATIONAL OR TRADE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT This award is sponsored by T&J Constructions.

Recognises the efforts of a high school vocational trade student who lives in Playford Alive, who has put in an outstandingeffort via hard work, dependability, responsibility, motivation, adaptability and integrity. This award is open to high school vocational trade students. Individual award.

BEST TRAINEE OR APPRENTICE WORKING WITH AN EMPLOYER This award is sponsored by Alexander Symonds.

Honours exceptional performance of an individual who is a trainee or apprentice working with an employer. The trainee or apprentice must live or work in the local Playford Alive area. The nominee must have exceeded expectations, demonstrated exceptional attitude and shown resourcefulness and initiative beyond the ordinary responsibilities of their position. Individual award.

BEST FRONTLINE WORKER AWARD This award is sponsored by Boral

Acknowledging the challenging year that we’ve had with the South Australian and national bushfires and the Covid-19 crisis, this award recognises the efforts of those workers on the front-line. This award honours a resident or worker in the Playford Alive area who is a real local hero by demonstrating exceptional commitment and work ethic throughout these times in a frontline capacity; this could be in a paid or volunteer role. Individual award.

Playford Alive is a community and urban renewal project comprising new developments in Munno Para, Andrews Farm and Eyre, as well as the existing suburbs of Smithfield Plains and Davoren Park. Awards are open to individuals and organisations making a difference in the community that live or work within Playford Alive.

The 2020 awards acknowledge the year that we’ve had with the bushfires and Covid-19 situation. As a result, we’ll be doing things a little differently. Just for this year, we’ll be tweaking our award categories to make them relevant to the current circumstances.

We’re even creating a new award to recognise Front Line workers and their contribution during these uncertain times.
