Key Notes on Ratings• Every teacher is evaluated every year.

• Each standard and rating stands on its own (1 out of 6, not 1/6).

• Ratings are used to create professional development plans each year.

Measures of Student Learning:Focus on Analysis of Student WorkAnalysis of Student Work is a process through which teachers collect student work samples from two different points in time, assess them for growth in relation to identified Clarifying Objectives, and submit them for “blind review” by other content experts in the state.

• Allows flexibility with:• Programs and instructional time• Supplies and resources• Standards of focus

• Uses online platform to complete process

Page 18: North Carolina Healthful Living Leaders Webinar May 29, 2013 3:30 – 4:30 p.m

Measures of Student Learning:Focus on Analysis of Student WorkHow is growth measured?

• Teachers select student work samples that are representative of their current teaching assignment.

• Blind review by content experts determines growth level and a rating category:

• Does Not Meet Expected Growth

• Meets Expected Growth

• Exceeds Expected Growth

Page 19: North Carolina Healthful Living Leaders Webinar May 29, 2013 3:30 – 4:30 p.m
