Welcome to the 2014 N.D. Red Angus Select Sale. This is the largest offering we’ve had consigned in many years and what a tremendous set of females we have. Jeff Thomas selected all of the consignments and we have a very high-quality set of bred and open heifers, as well as some very exciting embryos packages. This is a great opportunity to purchase some of the northern region’s top genetics to advance anyone’s program.

Red Angus is showing unprecedented growth as a breed and in popularity among commercial producers, feeders and packers alike. With cattle prices at an all-time high, it is an exciting time to be offering this elite set of females.

This year we are happy to share the sale day with the N.D. Sim-mental Association’s State Sale that will follow the Red Select Sale. While each breed is maintaining its own identity, we think it refl ects the cooperative effort of the two breeds’ national col-laboration. We also think this will be a tremendous opportunity for buyers who utilize both breeds.

I would like to thank Jeff Thomas for his tremendous job of cattle selection and for his guidance in managing this sale. I would also like to thank the entire board for all of the work they have put into planning and managing this year’s Red Select Sale. Thanks also to Tracey Koester of Cow Camp Promotions for a great job of advertising and catalog design.

We are pleased to welcome Larry Keenan, RAAA director of breed improvement, to our annual meeting and banquet. Larry will discuss the new HerdBuilder and GridMaster Indices and be available to answer members’ questions.

It has been a pleasure to be involved with the develop-ment of the 2014 N.D. Red Angus Association Red Select Sale. The consignors have been great to work with and are presenting you an excellent set of genetics to choose from.

You will notice a new venue to this year’s event with the N.D. Red Angus Association sharing the sale date and sale location with the N.D. Simmental Association and their sale. The Red Select Sale Starts at noon with the Simmen-tal sale following after. There are two great sets of cattle for both of these events!! The two breeds compliment each other very well and the consignors have been great to work with!

There has never been a better time to be involved in the beef industry! The cow numbers are at an all-time low and we are continuing to see record prices for feeder calves. Commercial producers all over the country are search-ing for top-end genetics to use in their programs to take advantage of the times. As seedstock producers you will fi nd the offering of this sale provides the source for those top-end bulls and females that will assist you in providing those genetics to your customers.

If you are looking for bred heifers to produce bulls for the commercial and seedstock industry, this offering has a lot of opportunities for you. The open heifers in the offering have some outstanding show heifer prospects for Junior programs – there will be something to fi t your needs that will make tremendous cows as they develop.
