“In seasons of turbulence, going to our Father in prayer is the best thing we can do. The phrase ‘grace to help us when we need it’ – means that in His presence we can be...at peace during threatening times, because we bring our concerns to the One who is greater than all! When life feels overwhelming, we can pray. He can help us through the turbulence.” Bill Crowder Pam Pluger is asking for your prayers, as she travels to Cleveland Clinic this Tuesday to see if she can get some questions answered about and relief from the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. A very friendly black and white kitten has been around church lately. It seems to visit in the afternoon and evening and is extremely friendly. If you know if it actually belongs to a neighbor of the church, please let the office know. A concert by Barney and Nancy Miesse will be held here at church next Sunday, August 26th beginning at 6:00 pm. You are cordially invited to attend. Luncheon will be served after the concert.

The Council will begin the process of nominating elders and deacons soon. If you have suggestions, please talk to a Council member or leave a note for the Council in their mailbox. Aaron Pluger and Megan Ritsema are being married Saturday, September 8th. Let’s ‘shower’ them with nonperishable groceries and other household items. A laundry basket is next to the north entrance into the sanctuary to put your contributions in. Thank you for your generosity. Thanks to all of you who donated or attempted to donate blood this past Wednesday. We had nineteen donors and MI Blood collected twenty pints (one double red). Our second annual Reach, Serve, Love Service Weekend is this Friday and Saturday. If you are able in some way to help with the service projects, please contact Justin Sluiter. Also, plan to come to church on Friday evening, beginning at 5:00 pm for our Community Dinner, Yard Games, and Movie-on-the-Lawn Night! Ask your friends and neighbors to join you for a night of great food, camaraderie, and laughter! Feel free to contact Justin Sluiter with any questions (231) 667-4158. For those of you wanting to connect with Josh Buning, his email is [email protected]. He and his family are planning to leave for Bangledesh next month. Please join Prosper Christian Reformed Church for an evening of worship tonight at 6:00 pm. Author and speaker, David Murray will lead us in worship. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service. A nursery will be provided. Lake City Community MOPS is gearing up for another year of outreach and ministry, where we seek to encourage and equip moms in our community. We’re looking for childcare helpers to make this ministry possible. We meet at Lake City CRC on the first and third Thursdays of the month, September through May, from 9:00-11:30 am. If you are a mom who would like to attend or a volunteer who would like to help, please contact Deborah Ouwinga ([email protected] or 878-6958) or Desiree Agama ([email protected] or 667-0829). All are welcome.
