San Francisco
Police Department
Residents, Merchants, and Visitors,
On Monday, November 11th we celebrate the heroic deeds and
sacrifices of the honorable men and women who have served and those
who continue to serve in the armed forces of the United States of
America. Joining the ranks are hundreds of members of the San
Francisco Police Department.
Every year, on November 11th at 11:00 am, the Veterans
Day National Ceremony is held at Arlington National Cemetery. During
the ceremony, a wreath is laid at the Tomb of the Unknowns. The
ceremony is then continued inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a
parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from
dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who
served in the United States Armed Forces.
Here in San Francisco, the 99th Annual Veteran's Day Parade
will be held on Sunday, November 10th at 11:00 am. The parade will
start on the Embarcadero at North Point Street, traveling north-west on
The Embarcadero to Jefferson Street, then west on Jefferson Street
post the review stand on Jefferson Street near Leavenworth Street.
Also, on Monday, November 1 1 th at 11:00 am, a Veteran's Day
Commemoration will be hosted by the Presidia Trust at celebration is
also held within the Presidia at the Korean War Memorial located at
Lincoln Boulevard and Sheridan Avenue in San Francisco.
In preparing this weekly message, I came across the remarks
of President George W. Bush delivered at the Arlington National
Cemetery during a Veteran's Day National Ceremony on November
11, 2006. These words, as delivered, capture perfectly and
eloquently the homage deserved by the men and women of our armed
forces.
"Since the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, the National
Cemetery has reminded our citizens of the cost of liberty. The simple
white markers testify to honor fulfilled and duty served. Most of these
markers stand over graves of Americans who came home to enjoy the
peace they earned. Too many stand over the graves of those who
gave their lives to protect that peace. This day is dedicated to all who
answered the call to service -- whether they live in honor among us, or
sleep in valor beneath this sacred ground." -President George W. Bush
Have a great weekend and please take a moment to honor
those who have served and continue to serve. -JE

Pedestrians have the right of way.

And motorists please be mindful of others who share the road.

The San Francisco Police Department will conduct Traffic
Safety Enforcement Operations on November 12th, and
22nd with a focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety. Over
the past three years, the department has identified areas
where significant numbers of pedestrian and bicycle-
related collisions have occurred and responded by
deploying additional officers to those areas in an effort to
prevent deaths and injuries.
Special attention will be given to Focus on the Five
violations: speeding, making illegal turns, failing to stop
for stop signs and red lights, failing to yield to
pedestrians in crosswalks, as well as any other dangerous
violation.
San Francisco is committed to eliminating traffic deaths on
our streets as part of Vision Zero SF. Vision Zero SF is our
city's commitment to prioritize safe streets for everyone.

INCIDENT RECAPS
Battery
On 11/1/19 at 0512 hours, officers responded to a call of a battery. Upon arrival, officers met with
the victim, at 880 Franklin Street. The victim sustained injuries to his left eye. The victim provided
officers with the subject's description, at which time officers broadcasted the information over pic
radio. The victim told officers that he saw the subject standing outside and began pulling on a stand
pipe that was connected to the building. The victim instructed the subject to leave, however the subject
refused, approached the victim, and punched him three times in the face; the subject then fled the
scene. The victim provided officers with video surveillance footage.
Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Vehicle
On 11/2/19 at 0758 hours, officers were on patrol when they observed a motor vehicle license plate,
which was expired by three years. Officers then effected a traffic stop. Officers determined the
vehicle would be towed and requested the driver to exit the vehicle. Once the subject exited the
vehicle, officers conducted a vehicle inventory search prior to it being towed. Officers located a loaded,
firearm, concealed under the driver seat of the vehicle. Officers located no other weapons in the
vehicle nor on the subject's person. The subject was then placed under arrest. Upon return to the
station, officers determined the firearm had been reported stolen out of Fresno County.

stolen, and an information page to keep you and your bike out of harm's way.

Crime Statistics Disclaimer:
Crime statistical data is accurate at the time the data is
forwarded for publication. It is anticipated that weekly
crime statistics will trend slightly higher, as victims of
crime often delay the reporting of crime using Online
reporting and walk-in station counter reports after the
date of the actual incident.
