WHAT’S NEW AT TREMONTONPARKS AND RECREATION?

In a continuing effort to keep up with the times of our day, we have a few new additions we would like toshare:

First of all we have streamlined the registration process with our new Recreation software. Now when register-ing for any program or bowery/field reservation, it will all be done electronically. The first time aparent/guardian registers for any event, they will be required to fill out a liability release which will requirethem to list all members of the immediate family (Mother/Father, all children) with full names, birthdates, grades, etc. This must be done by a Parent or Legal Guardian only! Once this has been completed it will bevalid for two years and need not be done again. This new system will improve service, ensure accuracy and save time and paper. It will also allow us to bringyou online registrations in the near future.

We have also been working to bring a leisure trail to Tremonton. This will be a great trail to walk, run, bike,roller-blade, etc. Plans have been made for a portion of this new trail to go around the new IHC Hospital inTremonton. We feel this is exciting and will be avaluable new facility in our community to help stay active andhealthy.

Lastly, as you all may know, the B.E. School District is doing construction on the High School. While this willbe a great addition for the High School, it is not without some growing pains for even the P/R Department. Wehave worked hard with all the schools that will be effected by the construction. School gyms will be busierthan ever. We feel we have all scheduling problems solved, but ask for your patience and understanding duringthis time, as schedules and times may change.

We are here to serve. If there is ever anything we can help with or any helpful suggestions you may have, please do not hesitate to come in or give us a call. We would love to hear from you.

Hi, my name is MarcChristensen and I would like totake this opportunity to introducemyself. I am a new employee forthe Tremonton Parks andRecreation department, as theRecreation Coordinator.Recreation is my passion, and Iam very excited to work in therecreation field. While I wasgrowing up in Payson Utah, Ialways wanted the guy who runsthe Jr. Jazz programs' job. I didsome research while I was inHigh School and later while Iattended Snow College, and Ifound out about the Parks,Recreation, and Tourism (PRT)degree. I was accepted to UtahState, and to the University ofUtah's PRT programs. I chose togo to the University of Utah and Igraduated in August 2008 with myBA in PRT. While I was living inSalt Lake, I worked for RedwoodRecreation, which is a branch ofSalt Lake County Recreation inWest Valley City. I also workedfor Dimple Dell Recreation inSandy. This past summer I

moved to St. George and Iworked for Ivins City Parks andRecreation. Over the past year Ihave seen the good and the badfor large and small recreationprograms. I hope to bring thegood things I have learned toTremonton Parks andRecreation.

In the short time I have beenhere, I have learned thatTremonton runs a very profes-sional recreation program, andthat the men and women whoare involved all have a passionfor recreation. We all want toprovide well ran programs forevery age group. We are alwaysin need of volunteers, and wewould really appreciate it if youcould coach, or help out in anyway. We would also like to hearyour feedback on the differentprograms, and if you would likeus to implement a new program, please feel free to let us know. Ilook forward to meeting you. Besure to register for all the pro-grams that interest you.
