HOLY CHILD YOUTH GROUP MEETING
There will be a Youth Group meeting this Sun-day, November 18, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room. We will be having a Thanksgiving dessert party. All youth ages 5
th
grade - 12th grade are welcome! Come join us for fun,
community service and to meet new friends! For inquiries please call the rectory at (718)356-5890 and leave a message for Rich and Kelly.
The next meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society
is November 25th
after the 9:30 a.m. mass.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society has consistently emphasized both the internal movement of faith and the external action of charity. In our Holy Child conference we help at St. Edward’s Food Pantry, help the needy of the parish as well as others who require our assistance. We bring the Eucharist to residents in Eger and Seaview Nursing Homes, have a St. Patrick’s party in Seaview, work on the Christmas Giving Tree, run a coat drive, provide Thanksgiving and Easter baskets and go and do whatever is needed to accomplish our goal of service. We also were able to provide transportation for children to attend camp one week during the summer.
We are always open to new members who would like to assist us. Please contact the Rectory at (718) 356-5890 and leave a message for Peg Corney.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Fr. Wency and I recently attended a special seminar about the program named FORMED. Sponsored by the Office of Faith Formation, it provided an update on all of the recent features of FORMED.
FORMED is an online platform featuring the best Catholic videos, audio talk, eBooks and movies from various Catholic outlets.
Appropriate and relevant content is available on the site for parents, religion teachers, students, study groups of various sorts, teens and youngsters.
Some 50 Holy Child parishioners tried FORMED last year.
It is a modern resource which has been given to the Archdiocese free of charge. Neither the parish nor parishioners pay for it. Once again, as pastor, I invite you to explore FORMED for your inspiration, education and edification. To do so is simple:
Log into Formed.org
For the first time you sign in,
Click on “ENTER CODE”
Enter our parish code:
PK2JR3
Then, “Create Account”
Provide the requested information and follow through with subsequent instructions.
After successfully registering, you will be able to access all FORMED resources.
This is a great benefit to individual parishioners and parish groups alike. I hope our various departments and ministries take note of this rich resource and apply it creatively to their objectives:
The Religious Education Program - all grades; Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament; Beyond Renew, Scripture Faith Sharing, Men’s Discussion Group; Charismatic and Padre Pio Prayer Groups; Liturgical Ministers; Legion of Mary and Rosary Ministries; Prayerful Mantle, St. Vincent de Paul Outreach Groups; and our Youth Group.
This modern mode is at hand for the younger generations from which I am far removed. I have asked Fr. Wency to help me in assisting your initiative and exploration of this site.
