Dear Friends,A few weeks ago, I was giving a tour of the Center to a new member. We were talking about a great way to meet newpeople by joining us for lunch. He said that he couldn’t do that, he couldn’t take a meal away from someone who reallyneeded it. As our conversation continued, I realized that he thought that our lunch was more of a soup kitchen, only forthose who were homeless or in need – free. We do try to keep our lunch very affordable, prices range from $1.50 for soup to $4.50 for a complete meal. Our lunchis an excellent value and a great way to stretch your resources or provide a wonderful dinner that you don’t need tocook! All are welcome to join us for lunch, no matter your age, income or even if you are a member at the Center. Wehope that when you do come for lunch, you will see all that we have to offer and decide to join the Center. Chef Raymond, a Culinary Institute of America trained chef and his wonderful staff work with high quality, fresh ingredients to prepare our lunches from scratch beginning at 6:00am. Chef works hard to prepare healthy nutritiouslow sodium options. We always feature salads, sandwiches, soups and the main entrée for the day. We are one of thefew senior centers around the state who prepare and serve our own meals. Everything is also available to go so you canenjoy it later or even take it to a friend. When you join us for lunch, you are also helping to support our Meals on Wheels. Every item purchased at lunchtimehelps us to cover the overall costs of our food services here at the Center. Meals On Wheels are delivered to the homebound in our community regardless of their ability to pay for the meals. Meals on Wheels or lunch at the Center help members of our community to successfully age in place. MOW helpsthose who are no longer able to shop or cook for themselves. Our lunch offers the priceless opportunity tojoin others for a meal, make new friends and hopefully connect you to other opportunities here at the Center toremain involved and engaged. Thank you for the many ways that you are connected to theCenter. Please join us for lunch and help us to spread theword about this tremendous service to our community.

WHY SHouLD I Pre-regISTer? - Often, in thenewsletter, you will be asked to register at theReception Desk. It is important that you do so forseveral reasons.1. We sometimes cancel a class/trip due to low registration. If you are interested and do not signup, you might miss out on a class/trip that you areinterested in.2. If a class is cancelled and you are not registered,we can’t call you to notify you of the cancellation. Then you come to the Center and are disappointedthat you have made the trip for a cancelled class. 3. Instructors will often ask us for a number of registrations. This helps them to prepare for theclass and make the appropriate number of hand-outs. 4. Room assignments might be able to beadjusted to accommodate a smaller or larger group, but this too depends on the number of registrations. ~Thank you!
