We’ve worked alongside thousands of teachers just like you over the years, and what we create together is truly exceptional. Children return enlightened and inspired, with positive memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

With half a century’s experience under our belt, today we’re able to offer you so much choice, advice, reassurance and support every step of the way: curriculum-linked visit experiences; destination knowledge; the reassurance of safety management and financial protection; and of course our full support whilst you’re away. Home to some of the world’s largest permanent collections and with a wide range of art on show, a school trip to London is guaranteed to enrich and inspire your group’s work. In this exciting city, pupils will get to take in the latest collections, museums, galleries and innovative talent, whilst developing an understanding of British heritage and culture. Add to that the huge array of tourist attractions on offer and you’ll be guaranteed a trip to remember.

CÉZANNE PORTRAITS

National Portrait Gallery, 26th October 2017 – 11th February 2018

The major new exhibition, Cézanne Portraits, will bring together for the first time over 50 of Cézanne’s portraits from collections across the world, including works which have never been on public display in the UK.

Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) painted almost 200 portraits, including 26 of himself and 29 of his wife, Hortense Fiquet. Cézanne Portraits will explore the special pictorial and thematic characteristics of Cézanne’s portraiture including his creation of complementary pairs and multiple versions of the same subject.

The exhibition will also consider the extent to which particular sitters shaped the characteristics and development of his practise. Works on display will range from Cézanne’s remarkable portraits of his Uncle Dominique, dating from the 1860s, through to his final portraits of Vallier, who helped Cézanne in his garden and studio at Les Lauves, Aix-en-Provence.

TATE MODERN – REHANGED

A new Tate Modern was unveiled in 2016 when its extension, known as The Switch House (that’s the big, twisty building that’s been rising up behind the Bankside building for the past couple of years), opened to the public.

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Swiss architects behind the original transformation of Bankside power station 16 years ago, the building provides 60 per cent more exhibition space, and allow for a ‘progressive rehang’ of Tate Modern’s permanent collection across both the Switch House and current Tate Modern building, with the Turbine Hall becoming what the Tate is calling ‘the street’ that connects both buildings.

There’s also a new viewing level where you’ll find awe-inspiring 360° views of the London skyline, and The Tanks which house performances, interactive art and video installations.

Good to know • We can pre-book your meals and metro passes so you don’t have to

worry about this when you arrive.

• Bastille Day (14th July) and the days around this are best avoided as many roads are closed. We will plan your itinerary accordingly.

• Eiffel Tower queues can be huge. We highly recommend the Montparnasse Tower which is quieter, more affordable and offers a great view of the city, including the Eiffel Tower.

FRANÇOIS I AND DUTCH ART

Musee National Du Louvre, 18th October 2017 - 15th January 2018

François I’s taste for Italian art is well known; his patronage is essentially identified with the creation of an Italian school at Fontainebleau, but his reign was equally marked by a vigorous tradition of Dutch artists settling in France. Thus the king was also surrounded by Dutch painters, many of them portrait specialists.

He made extensive purchases of tapestries, gold and silver objets d’art, and Flemish paintings; and as well as Paris, the Norman, Picard, Champagne, and Burgundian centres were swept by a wave of northern artists and influences which recent research has gradually revealed through its resuscitation of painters unjustly consigned to oblivion.

A whole segment of the French Renaissance is now resurfacing; and this exhibition sets out to reveal its many and varied facets, its extravagance, and its monumental character.

Price includes: 2 nights’ B&B accommodation, executive coach transport from

RAMON PICHOT

Museu National D’Art De Catalunya, 21st September 2017 - 7th January 2018

Settled in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, Ramon Pichot (Barcelona, 1871 - Paris, 1925), who had worked in Barcelona with Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, Joaquim Mir and Isidre Nonell, lived in the Bohemian and artistic environment of Montmartre.  The initiatory journey to Paris was frequent among many artists, but Pichot went there to stay, and died there.  In Paris he would become integrated in a colony of Catalan and Spanish artists and intellectuals, he would get to know and received influences of the post-impressionist and Fauvist artistic trends, and he participated in numerous international events, and made contact with merchants.

His work evolved from the initial Modernism to the Decorativism of the second decade of the 20th century, being characterised especially for the treatment and the pre-eminence of colour. Three settings would mark him throughout his artistic trajectory: Barcelona, Paris and Cadaqués, and, thematically, he would move between the scenarios of gender, portraits, the landscape of Cadaqués and Hispanic quaintness.

GAUDÍ EXHIBITION & VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE

The Gaudí Exhibition Center represents the starting point on the way to discovering who Gaudí was, finding out why and how he defined and executed his work, and so be able to take real advantage of the experience of visiting his buildings in Barcelona. The exhibition Picasso / Lautrec analyses the relationship between the early work of Pablo Picasso and that of the French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Picasso made contact with the work of the Post-impressionists such as Lautrec between 1900 and 1904 when he was living for periods in Paris.

His subject matter focused on the city’s low life and atmosphere of the night-time café-concerts, and his painting at the time was clearly influenced by Lautrec’s.

MURILLO: THE SELF-PORTRAITS

The Frick Collection, 31st October 2017 - 4th February 2018

One of the most celebrated painters of the Spanish Golden Age, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo worked primarily in Seville, where he was born in December 1617, until his death in 1682.

Well known for his religious paintings and his extraordinary depictions of street urchins, he was also an ingenious painter of portraits. This genre remains, however, the least studied aspect of his work.

In 1682, an inventory of the possessions of Gaspar Murillo, the painter’s son, lists two self-portraits, these being the only known images of the painter by his own hand. The first one was painted about 1650–55, while the second is from about 1670. The two portraits have not been seen together since at least the early nineteenth century.

To provide context to these canvases, the exhibition will also feature a group of fifteen other works on loan from international private and public collections.
