Alpha Xi Delta’s beautiful chapter house is located at 1616 NE 50th
Street. The new annex is located at 1818 NE 45th Street, immediately north
of campus, and is currently operated by the Puget Sound Baptist Associa-
tion as The Purple Door. Alpha Xi Deltas will use the new annex beginning
in fall 2016 as a supplemental place for sisters to gather for living, studying,
and chapter activities.
“We are thrilled about the new annex which
allows us to own property and have a base of opera-
tions so close to campus, while still enjoying our his-
toric home on 50th Street,” said Megan Gustafson
Melloy, Housing Corporation Board President for the
Nu Chapter. “We have been working diligently to-
wards this goal and we are thankful to the Puget
Sound Baptist Association for the great working rela-
tionship we’ve enjoyed to get to this point. We are
confident this property will have a positive impact on
the future of Nu Chapter.”
Alpha Xi Delta’s Nu Chapter was established at the
University of Washington on May 13, 1907, when fifteen women wearing blue and gold ribbons stood on the steps
of Denny Hall and announced their chartering as Alpha Xi Delta. Since that time, Nu Chapter has initiated more
than 2,300 women into Alpha Xi Delta.
Founded in 1893 at Lombard College, now Knox College, in Galesburg, Illinois, Alpha Xi Delta inspires
women to realize their potential by providing opportunities for sisterhood, leadership, knowledge and service. The
national women’s fraternity has more than 150,000 initiated members and has chapters on 126 college campuses.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to Pickle Mix in November! We returned to the HUB for
another year, and increased attendance for alumnae and collegiate women alike. There were spouses, children, and
parents in attendance, and even our HUB event liaison participated in the bidding for a present for his mother! The
competition was fierce for many hot items, resulting in a total of $2,725 raised for Nu Scholarships$2,725 raised for Nu Scholarships$2,725 raised for Nu Scholarships$2,725 raised for Nu Scholarships. It was really a banner year for us! The Alumnae group would especially like to thank everyone who donated items
to the silent and live auctions. We are always looking for quality items, and it is never too early to start thinking
about items to contrib-
ute! Pickle Mix is
always the first Monday
in November. We hope
to see you there in 2016,
especially if it’s been a
while since you last
attended Pickle Mix or
saw your sisters!

Indianapolis, IN – Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity is deeply saddened by the passing of Linda Belles Dinus, Past
National President 1993-1997. Linda entered Chapter Eternal on December 23, 2015 in Bellingham, Washington, at
the age of 74.
“Linda’s contributions to Alpha Xi Delta will never be forgotten. She will always be remembered for her
warmth, generosity, compassion and unwavering love of Alpha Xi Delta,” said National Executive Director Elysia
Gallivan.
Linda was initiated into the Nu Chapter Nu Chapter Nu Chapter Nu Chapter at the University of Washington on January 15, 1960. She served as
Alpha Xi Delta’s Foundation Vice Chairman, a member of the Board of Trustees, Extension Committee Chairman,
Extension Vice President, NPC Alternate, Chairman of the Quackenbush Award Committee, Foundation Secretary,
Chairman of the Governance Task Force, Chair of the National Executive
Director Search Committee, Member of the Foundation Nominating
Committee and National PresidentNational PresidentNational PresidentNational President.
In her Rose Banquet address at the 1995 National Convention,
Linda said, “We know Alpha Xi Delta is getting better because of com-
mitted members who project the values and teachings of Alpha Xi Delta.
We continue to seek the vision of life expressed in the Alpha Xi Delta
Symphony, including the will to grow in courage, graciousness and
peace.”
During Linda’s tenure, National Council implemented a new pro-
gram for young alumnae titled Next Generation which helped bridge the
gap between college life to lifelong alumna membership. She also helped
to implement By The Numbers, Alpha Xi Delta’s program for reducing
the risk of alcohol-related problems, and installed nine Alpha Xi Delta
chapters across the nation.

Badge Day: Monday, March 7 Badge Day: Monday, March 7 Badge Day: Monday, March 7 Badge Day: Monday, March 7
Monday, March 7 is International Badge Day, the day when all members of National Panhellenic
Conference and other Greek women’s organizations are encouraged to wear their pins to work, to school, and in
the community. For Alpha Xi Deltas, this is the day to wear your quill with pride, and with appropriate quill attire,
of course. Did you know that the idea for this event was suggested by one of our Nu Chapter alums, Rebecca Amos-
Stuart (Nu ’90)? We asked Becky how the first National Badge Day came to happen.
“During my tenure as the NPC 2nd Alternate Delegate for Alpha Xi Delta, I served on the Alumnae
Panhellenic Committee. At the annual NPC meeting in 1996, the Alumnae Panhellenic committee was dis-
cussing ways to promote lifelong, sorority membership. As we were brainstorming, we talked about the num-
ber of sorority women in the U.S. and how to promote and I simply asked several of the committee members,
“when do you wear your sorority badge/pin?” The answer was pretty much ‘at sorority specific events only,
i.e., Founders Day. That’s when I suggested NPC badge day; one day, every year, to promote sorority mem-
bership by simply asking all members (collegiate and alumnae) to wear their badge/pins. We selected a
March timeframe to coincide with Women’s History Month.”
Becky added that she created the initial PR primer (press release, FAQ, event ideas, etc.) for the program
and worked with a graphic designer on the poster. We also had a few alumnae write personal stories about wearing
their badge and how that furthers Panhellenic spirit. - Sandy Walston & Becky Amos-Stuart
