GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Universal Interface Board - 848 (UIB-848) is an Access Control Lock Power Distribution Manag-er (aka ACM) designed to support any access control system with:

- Eight (8) selectable 12V/24V “powered” or “wet” outputs, delivering 12V or 24V to electrified locks and other electronic devices requiring stable and isolated power distribution. Each output reports its measured voltage and current drawn by the lock/load. Each output is protected against short/overcurrent condition with auto recovery, Digitally Controlled 1A Solid-State Digital Circuit Break-er (DCB), has an adjacent dual color LED to indicate its status, i.e. energize, not-energize or short circuit conditions and each can be programmed for either ‘fail secure’ or ‘fail safe’ mode in which output’s power is automatically removed when its Fire Alarm input is activated.

- Four (4) Form “C” 10A dry relays. Relays can be activated by either external dry contact switch or can be ‘triggered’ by low voltage, 10VDC-26VDC power input. A yellow status LED by each re-lay to indicate that a relay is energized.

- Eight (8) auxiliary 12V or 24V power connectors to supply power to any other devices requiring power such as REX motion sensors. Each pair of outputs are selected for 12V/24V and are pro-tected with 1.5A auto recovery, Solid-State Digital Circuit Breakers (DCB).

Electrified locks powered outputs as well as relays are controlled/activated by dry supervised contact and in addition, four voltage sensitive relay trigger inputs are available. These inputs can activate/ trigger the relays by application of power from an external voltage source.

Additional control and management of UIB-848 is achieved via one of the two RS-485 OSDP com-munications A and B ports. UIB serial control is achieved by any 3rd party OEM complying with RS-485/OSDP/NU-2 API, or by NU2’s own Smart Power Supply (SPS) as managed by a Mobil App (iOS or Android), or by NU2’s Web Enabled DCC (Data Communication Controller).

The UIB is designed to function either as a “stand alone” power manager, or, connect to NU2’s Smart Power Supply (SPS) or other manufacturer’s equipment’s (OEM) communication bus. When doing so, further UIB’s real time status display and management is achieved locally via Bluetooth or remotely via Web access.

UIB-848 is a 12 inputs/ 20 outputs Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and as such can be pro-grammed other functionalities. Currently the UIB is also available as:

-Mantrap Controller managing 2-4 doors including all associated devices

-Hospital Bathroom Controller synchronizing 2-4 patients rooms with a single bathroom

-Automatic Door Interface Board to manage automatic door’s operator’s motor, hardware, electri-fied locking and access control

DETAILED HARDWARE DESCRIPTION

1. DC Power IN 12V/24V: UIB Supports two DC Voltage inputs: 12V and 24V. Any DC IN voltage that is greater than 10VDC will operate the UIB’s internal operations circuitry, however, both 12V and 24V are required to support applications requiring mixed electrified lock voltage WET output and auxiliary power outputs. Both voltages are automatically available when using NU2’s Smart Power Supply (SPS)

2. DC power OUT 12V/24V: Power output paralleled to DC Power IN connector. Typical applica-tions would be to cascade power for a second UIB or any other device requiring 12V/24V.

4. Dual Color Status LED: a. Green: Energized b. Red: Shorted c. Off: Not Energized

5. Electrified Locks Outputs: Total of eight (8) each with the following functionality:

a. Deliver 12V or 24V @1A b. Voltage and current measurement and reported via Communication Port A and/or B to the

Smart Power Supply (SPS) for further display and management via Bluetooth/ Web c. Status LED as noted at item #4 above d. Protected against overload/short condition via use of auto recovery, Solid State Digital Circuit

Breaker (DCB) e. Configured for either Fail Safe or Fail Secure operations. (see #3) f. Load Shedding: Using Mobile device or Web Browser, each electrified lock output can be des-

ignated as ‘Fail Safe’ Lock. When designated as such, and when connected to NU2’s Smart Power Supply (SPS), then, upon power loss and when using battery power, and in order to preserve battery life, such locks can be automatically disabled based on one of the following conditions:

i. Never ii. 1-999 seconds after power loss iii. When battery voltage drops to xx.x volts (selectable) iv. If battery current exceeds x.x Amps

3. WET Outputs Voltage Jumper Selector: Each of the eight WET outputs is config-ured for 12V (Jumper set Left) or 24V (Jumper set Right). This allows the in-staller to have mixed electrified locks of both 12V and/or 24V (see below)

6. Graphical Display (optional)

Contact factory for specialized applications 7. Form C Relays: 2 relays/total of 4 relays

a. SPDT Relays, contacts rated at 10 Amps b. Triggered by:

i. Supervised open/closed input (see #19) Or ii. Externa voltage 12V– 24VDC (see #8)

c. Yellow LED, indicates that the corresponding relay is energized.

8. Four Trigger Inputs: One for each of the four relays. Voltage trigger of 10VDC or higher will acti-vate the corresponding relay.

9. Form C Relays: 2 relays/total of 4 relays a. SPDT Relays, contacts rated at 10 Amps b. Triggered by:

i. Supervised open/closed input (see #19) or ii. External voltage 12V - 24VDC (see #8)

10. General Purpose/Tamper Inputs: Total of 2 inputs. Input’s status displayed and reported

11. Auxiliary Power output 5&6 and 7&8: UIB provides a total of eight AUX managed outputs of 12V/24VDC. These outputs are designed to power devices such as Request To Exit (RTE) motion detectors, temperature and water sen-sors, lights, relays and all other low voltage devices requiring 12V and/or 24V power. Outputs are arranged/protected in pairs such as 5&6 and 7&8 Specifications:

a. 12V and 24V @ 1.5A b. Protected against overload/ short condition with auto recovery, Solid State Digital Circuit

Breaker (DCB) c. Status LED; Green=Power ON, Red=Short d. Managed by the SPS/UIB mobile app/Web access.

12. Auxiliary Power Voltage Selector

Each pair (1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8) of the eight outputs can be selected for 12V or 24V.

a. Green: Energized b. Red: Shorted

15. Port B: Secondary OSDP/RS-485 encrypted communication port

Provides encrypted OSDP compliant connection for use by any other access control OEM man-ufacturer. An OSDP command set is provided by NU2 Systems LLC.

22. Fail Safe / Fail Secure:

Electrified lock’s Fail Safe or Fail Secure mode is achieved via SW1. Dip switch setting, one Selector per each electrified lock output (1 thru 8). When SW1 switches are turned ON (up position), then, the matching output’s power is removed when F/A contact is lost, causing the selected fail-safe electri-fied lock to unlock the door.

1. Management & Control: a. When connected via RS-485 Port A to NU2’s Smart Power Supply (SPS), then, the UIB

can be locally controlled by Smartphone app (iOS or Android) or remotely via Web if con-nected to the SPS’s Data and Communication Controller (DCC). The followings are exam-ples of the application’s control screens as viewed by the Smartphone app:
