YEAR OF MERCY

THANK GOD

How can we adequately thank God the Giver of every good gift? The

answer can be found in history. Not in 1620 with the Pilgrims, but in an upper room at the Last Supper. “Take this all of you and eat it, this is my Body…. Drink from it, this is the chalice of my Blood,” (Psalm 116). You and I can’t give adequate thanks, but Christ our brother and Lord can. We unite our meager thanksgiving to the perfect thanksgiving of Christ, especially at Mass.

Remember the one leper who returned to Christ giving thanks. As the leper, we come to Christ bearing our wounds asking, “Lord have mercy.” And, after realizing we are healed-especially after

Confession with a priest – we kneel and give thanks. How shall we adequately thank God? Go to Him, confess invoking His Mercy, and allow Him to hear us… and thank Him.

AGRADEZCAN A DIOS

¿Cómo podemos agradecer adecuadamente a Dios el Dador de todo buen regalo? La respuesta se puede encontrar en la historia. No en 1620 con los Peregrinos, sino en una habitación superior en la

Última Cena.

"Tomad y comed todos de él, este es mi Cuerpo .... Tomad y Bebed todos de él, este es el cáliz de mi Sangre " (Salmo 116). Tú y yo no podemos dar las gracias adecuadas, pero Cristo nuestro hermano y Señor puede. Nosotros unimos nuestra escasa acción de gracias a la acción de gracias perfecta de Cristo, especialmente en la misa. Recuerda al leproso que regresó a Cristo dando gracias. Como el leproso, venimos a Cristo llevando

nuestras heridas preguntando, "Señor ten piedad". Y después

de darnos cuenta de que estamos curados-especialmente después de la Confesión con un sacerdote- nos arrodillamos y damos gracias ¿Cómo debemos dar gracias a Dios adecuadamente? Vayan a Él, confiésense invocando Su Misericordia, y permitan que Él nos oiga ... y agradezcámosle.
