1 Introduction Haifa Nutri-Net' is an expert software assisting growers worldwide to formulate their

crop nutrition programs and irrigation schemes, by integrating virtually all relevant

cultivation parameters.

'Haifa Nutri-Net' is based on comprehensive databases of crop nutrition, irrigation, soil

and climate, covering almost every growth environment in the world

The software is divided into three sections:

The Main Screen that allows use to manage your specific programs and supplies

additional tools and links (Section ‎1.2).

A questionnaire that guides you through the process of inputting your data to

create a new program (Section ‎2).

A report that provides fertilizer recommendation based on the questionnaire

and shows the actual type and amount of nutrients supplied by your program

(‎4).

1.1 Fertilization and Nutrigation Glossary

The following terms are used in this document:

Soil correction – soil that is found to be deficient in certain elements following soil

analysis can be corrected to the desired level of these elements by adding the

appropriate fertilizer types prior to the crop planting.

Base dressing – in soil grown crops mainly in the open field it is common practice to

apply part of the entire crop nutrients requirement as a soil application prior to the crop

planting.

Quantitative Nutrigation – fertilizers are applied at specific amounts to a given area

through the irrigation water. Nutrient requirements are expressed in amount/area units,

such as Kg/ha, lbs/acre etc.

Proportional Nutrigation – The application amount of nutrients is proportional to the

water discharge rate. In this process, a constant ratio between the volume of the

irrigation water and the volume of the fertilizer solution is kept, resulting in a constant

nutrient concentration in the irrigation water usually expressed as mg/liter (ppm),

mmol/liter etc.

Proportional Recirculation Nutrigation – in this method the drainage water (about 20%

of the water irrigation volume) is collected, treated and diluted / combined in different

proportions with the fresh water used for the crop irrigation.
