. o` e St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living the Gospel
of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and Service as taught by
the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter Parish is a community of
dedicated Catholics centered on the Eucharist, which is the source
and the summit of all that we do and hope to become. Approved August 19, 2014
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to
complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.
Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church
requirements are satisfied.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before
you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR JULY
The Integrity of Justice
That priests, those who administer justice may work with integrity,
and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the
last word.
FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JULY
WORSHIP: Through our parish novena to St. Anne this month: may she, who formed the Blessed Virgin Mary by witness and faithfulness to God’s will, intercede for us as a parish community to remain always trusting and faithful to the Will of God in our lives.
FAITH FORMATION: As the first and primary teachers of the Faith to their children, may our parents be aided by our prayer for them and our personal witness to an active practice of our Catholic Faith.
EVANGELIZATION: May the celebration of our Nation's independence this month serve as a reminder of the Founding Fathers of our Nation's intent that God NOT be absent from our lives in the public square.
SOCIAL JUSTICE: That Sacramental Marriage, as an institution of Almighty God between one man and one woman, may be defended and promoted within the life of the Parish Family and our civil community.
BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: As each of us prays about our own personal commitment to our Combined Capital Campaign for St. Peter and the Diocese, we ask direction of the Holy Spirit so that in all we do it may Glorify God and lift up one another.

Blood of Christ? ~1 Cor 10:16
MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD PRAYER
O Almighty and Eternal God, Who hast ransomed the human race by the five wounds of Thy Son, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: we beseech Thee, by the merits of His precious blood, to grant unto us, who, each day, venerate these same adorable wounds, to be delivered from a sudden and unprovided death: Through the same Jesus Christ Thy Son, Our Lord, Who with Thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth, one God, world without end. Amen.

DIVINE MERCY MESSAGE “JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”
St. Faustina: July 1937: “Today the Lord said to me, ‘My daughter, My pleasure and delight, nothing will stop me from granting you graces. Your misery does not hinder my mercy. My daughter, write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater its right to My
mercy; [urge] all souls to trust in the unfathomable abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. On the cross, the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls – no one have I excluded!” (Diary 1182)
PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will gather me up. ~ Ps 27:10
REFLECTION: Blessed Margaret of Castello (13th c.) is Patron of the Unwanted. When her parents, who
were respected nobility, discovered at her birth that she was a badly deformed dwarf, hunchback, and blind, they refused to give her a name, locked her up in a small cell, and eventually abandoned her while traveling. Had we known what Margaret’s parents were doing to her, would we have spoken up?
PRAYER: Blessed Margaret, pray that we may speak up for the unwanted.
St. Peter Parish celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi this past weekend with two beautiful events! A number of our young parishioners received Jesus in the Holy Eucharist for the first time followed immediately by a Eucharistic Procession! We wish to thank, Faith Formation secretary, Jody McConnell, First Communion teacher, Rachel Schafer, all those who helped to make these grace-filled events possible and all those who came out to participate. Please keep our First Communicants and their families in your prayers that they may continue to grow in the love of Jesus in the Holy Eucharistic.

ORDINARY TIME IS IT “ORDINARY”?
Because of the way we think of the term ordinary in English, many people think that Ordinary Time refers to the parts of the Church year that are unimportant.
Ordinary Time is called "ordinary" simply because the weeks are numbered. The Latin word ordinalis, which refers to numbers in a series, stems from the Latin word ordo, from which we get the English word order.
Christmas Time and Easter Time highlight the central mysteries of the Paschal Mystery, namely, the incarnation, death on the cross, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, and the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Sundays and weeks of Ordinary Time, on the other hand, take us through the life of Christ. This is the time of conversion. This is living the life of Christ.
Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to penetrate ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ. The goal, toward which all of history is directed, is represented by the final Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
Liturgical Color of Ordinary Time: GREEN The theological virtue of hope is symbolized by the color green, just as the burning fire of love is symbolized by red. Green is the color of growing things, and hope, like them, is always new and always fresh. Liturgically, green is the color of Ordinary Time, the season in which we are being neither especially penitent (in purple) nor overwhelmingly joyful (in white). ~ Universalis

NOVENA IN HONOR OF ST. BENEDICT July 3rd -11th
Feast of St. Benedict – July 11th
Our Holy Father, blessed by God both in grace and in name, yielded his angelic spirit into the hands of his Creator, while standing in prayer with his hands raised to heaven.
You have crowned him, O Lord, with glory and honor.
You have placed him over the works of your hands.
Enliven in Your Church, O Lord, the spirit which animated our Holy Father, the Abbot St. Benedict, so that, filled with the same spirit, we may learn to love what he loved and to practice what he taught.
Grant us perseverance in Your holy service, O Lord, so that the people serving You in our days may increase both in merit and in number. May all the monks in the ranks of the saints join their intercessions to ours so that You, Almighty Father, may hear us through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
“The first step of humility is unhesitating obedience, which comes naturally to those who cherish Christ above all.”

POST ABORTION HEALING:
PROJECT RACHEL Project Rachel is an abortion recovery program for those suffering the negative effects of an abortion experience. It is an individual (nine step process) and offers an opportunity through loving, caring, and understanding outreach to move toward healing and reconciliation. Individual appointments can be made by calling Trista Littell at (337)261-5598. All calls are confidential.
RACHEL’S VINEYARD RETREAT A Rachel's Vineyard weekend retreat is an opportunity for any man, woman, couple, grandparent, sibling, or anyone who struggles with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. This weekend retreat provides participants the opportunity and space to enter the grieving process, identify effects the abortion has had and release deep feelings of anger, shame, and guilt that frequently accompany an abortion experience. This unique retreat process is designed specifically to help retreatants experience the gentleness, mercy and compassion of Jesus as they walk the journey from pain to forgiveness.
Participants re-connect on a spiritual level with the children who have been aborted and give them honor and dignity through many special exercises as well as in a memorial service. Those who journey through their grief allow God to transform their experience into one that brings hope, liberation and peace.
When: October 4-6, 2019 (Respect Life Weekend)
Time: Friday, 6:00 p.m. - Sunday, 3:00 p.m.
For more information about the retreat weekend and/or to register contact: Trista @ 337.261.5598. Pre-registration required. All inquiries are confidential.

Red Bird Ministries is a Catholic grief support ministry that focuses on couples who have experienced the loss of a child of any age by loving them through their loss. Core team members of Red Bird Ministries are parents of loss and know all too well what it is to live through such a horrific experience. Our goal is to help couples living this nightmare to not just survive their loss, but to love them through it by sharing our own experiences and healings, in hopes of helping them to survive and thrive in their marriages and in life. Please contact Kelly Breaux at (337) 223-2019 or at [email protected] for more information. Visit our website at www.redbird.love.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THIRTEENTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
Today’s Gospel reveals to us the beginning of Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem. We will journey with Jesus for many Sundays to come, and along the way He will teach us about the demands of discipleship. His instructions may seem harsh and unreasonable to our ears. His response to legitimate requests to postpone the journey reminds us that there are always justifiable excuses to defer the journey or put off the responsibilities of discipleship. Other important matters compete for our attention. Some of us must make heart-wrenching choices, but there is urgency about Jesus’ mission to bring forth God’s kingdom. His demand is that we proclaim the Kingdom of God now. Is this our first priority, or do we have other priorities?
ROSARY FOR PEACE - A Rosary for peace for our country & our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
