CONFERENCE GOALS & OBJECTIVESAt the end of this educational activity, the learner will be able to:

• Understand the incidence of OCD across cultures• Recognize strategies for treating OCD• Learn the difference in treatment options for OCD in children versus adults• Know the risks and benefits of deep brain stimulator implantation• Discuss the coexistence of insomnia and anxiety• Understand the implications of treating anxiety in medically ill patients• Recognize the risks associated with the use of benzodiazepines

CONFERENCE HANDOUTSConference handouts will be available electronically approximately one week prior to the conference, providing attendees with the option to review, download or print the materials in advance. No printed session handouts will be available on site.

CME ACCREDITATIONThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and WI Psychiatric Assoc. The APA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

DESIGNATIONThe APA designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

EVALUATION METHOD & CLAIMING CREDITAt the conclusion of this activity, participants will be provided with a link to use the APA’s Learning Management System (LMS) in order to complete an evaluation and claim credit. After completing the program evaluation, attendees may print their certificate.

Wayne Goodman, MD was recently named to lead the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. Doctor Goodman specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder and is the principal developer of the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale, the gold standard for assessing the disorder.

Jerry Halverson, MD is medical director of Rogers Memorial Hospital, Oconomowoc, as well as medical director of the FOCUS program for adults with mood disorders. He is a distinguished fellow of APA and serves on the APA’s Council on Quality of Psychiatric Care. He is a past president of both the WPA and the Wisconsin Medical Society.

Harold Harsch, MD is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His primary clinical focus has been on the diagnosis and treatment of major psychiatric illnesses. He has conducted studies on various psychoactive medications used to treat disorders including Alzheimer’s disease, major depression and schizophrenia.

Thomas Heinrich, MD is a Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board certified in family medicine and general adult psychiatry and holds subspecialty certification in consultation psychiatry/psychosomatic medicine and neuropsychiatry. Doctor Heinrich practices consultation psychiatry.

Sue McKenzie MA, Director of Rogers InHealth, leads educational initiatives to promote stigma reduction practices. She has led training under grants from CDC and the Federal Department of Education and developed local and national partnerships to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

Brad Riemann, PhD is Clinical Director of the OCD Center and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Services at Rogers Memorial Hospital. He is a leading expert in the assessment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders and use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) treatment. He supervises the training of graduate and post-graduate students from around the country for CBT in anxiety disorders.

Meredith Rumble, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health and a licensed clinical psychologist. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders and other sleep disorders, and she is the Director of the UW Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program.

Eric Storch, PhD is the All Children’s Hospital Guild Endowed Chair and a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Departments of Pediatrics, Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, and Psychology at the University of South Florida. He specializes in the cognitive behavioral treatment of adult and childhood obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as other obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (e.g., trichotillomania, tic disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, skin-picking) and anxiety disorders.
