1—MOTORWEEK (ADVENTURE SPORTS OUTDOORS ON 10/27)

Starting October 16th - The Whitney Reynolds show expands to WTVP, Tuesday evenings at 10 p.m. Topics include Finding Forgiveness, Toxic Free Living, Life, Death & Stress, NICU Hope, Inclusion - Sexual Orientation & AwarenessEmmy nominated Whitney Reynolds’ news background and passion for people have been combined to create a show that is changing the world of talk TV. The Whitney Reynolds Show educates, motivates and makes a difference, one topic at a time. What started as an online talk show, the program gained momentum quickly and moved to NBC within it’s first year. In 2012 the show made strategic changes, which included a move to PBS Stations in Chicago-land and the Quad Cities. The Whitney Reynolds Show is currently in season nine and just released its first book, “Beyond the Interview, A 52 Week Guide of Inspiration.”

Originally from Oklahoma, she’s learned how to combine southern charm with big city hustle. Her motto is: If the door closes, there’s always a window. Whitney graduated from Baylor University in three years and then moved to New York to intern for Good Morning America. Post GMA, she was a morning anchor in both Oklahoma and Texas. She has since planted her roots in Chicago and lives in the Lakeview neighborhood with her husband David and twins.

A Golden Cross to BearIn the autumn of 1918, more than one million Americans fighting in France engaged in the bloodiest battle in the history of the U.S. military, known as the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Over 47 days of combat, nearly 100,000 U.S. “doughboys” were wounded, and more than 26,000 were killed in action during a chapter of “The Great War” that few Americans today truly understand. Many of those casualties were from Illinois.

Now, during the 100th anniversary of World War I, WTVP will broadcast an original television documentary series titled “A Golden Cross to Bear” which follows Roger Amm, grandson of Pontiac, Illinois farmer Gustave Amm who served in the Illinois 33rd “Golden Cross” Infantry Division, as he embarks on a global journey to honor his grandfather and all brave Americans who played an important role in helping bring World War I to an end. It’s more than just a journey of discovery for Roger Amm as he explores a previously untold story of the front line experience in that conflict, and how the events his grandfather participated in ultimately shaped the global map, Illinois, and his own family.

ILLINOIS RIVER DOCUMENTARYOctober 25th & November 1stPeoria Lakes is drowning in silt. Water that was an average of eight feet deep a century ago is now less than two feet deep outside the navigation channel. A new WTVP documentary to air this fall will address plans to reduce the silt coming into the lakes and how to return the accumulated sediment to productive use on land again. The build-up of sediment has created changes in the river environment. Breeding areas for native fish have been diminished and invasive species like Asian Carp have moved in. A second documentary will look at the environmental changes on the Illinois River and efforts to establish a healthy environment for fish and waterfowl.

WTVP WILL HONOR VOLUNTEERS IN OCTOBERWTVP is proud to announce our Volunteer Recognition Event on Monday, October 29 in our studio at 5:30 PM. In-dividuals and groups who volunteered during July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 will receive an invitation to attend this special recognition. Thanks to our great volunteers who shared their time and talents with WTVP so generously.

Founders SocietyJames & Rosemary StuttleWith hundreds of channels to choose from, we consistently choose WTVP. Whether it’s the honest, insightful news and analysis of The PBS NewsHour, the beauty and wonder of Nova and Nature, or favorite programs from Masterpiece to the Great British Baking Show, we rely on WTVP to inform, delight and inspire us. Supporting WTVP annually as Klystron Society members is our way of giving back to the station that gives us so much. For all these reasons and more, we have included WTVP in our estate plans. We are pleased to be members of the Founders Society and know that our plans will support WTVP for many years into the future.
