Charity & Social Service Honors - High Schools

The Charity and Social Service Honors Program is a

biennial honors program that was established by the

Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Con-

ception in 2009 to honor “charity in action” as urged

by Pope Benedict XVI to the youth of our nation dur-

ing his Apostolic Visit to the United States in April

2008. In keeping with its tradition and history, the

2015-2016 honor is dedicated to the papacy of Pope

Francis and in celebration of his pastoral mission and

visit to the National Shrine on September 23, 2015.

The National Shrine invites each Diocese to submit

one Student-Produced video nomination of a Senior

High School (Sophomore, Junior or Senior) student or

group engaged in charity in action as demonstrated by

their outstanding works of corporal and spiritual mer-

cy. The deadline for each Diocese to submit a nomi-

nation to the National Shrine is the Solemnity of the

Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015, at 11:59
